At 11:00am on July 18, Boston practitioners held a press conference inside the MA government building. Several MA assemblymen and their representatives attended the conference.
Representative Byron Rushing gave a speech and strongly condemned Jiang Zemin's regime for its human rights abuses against Falun Gong practitioners. He indicated that people should have the freedom of belief and that he had no reservations about calling for China to stop persecuting Falun Gong. Representative Patricia Jehlem read the letter to members of the US Congress co-signed by 28 assemblymen and condemned China for the brutal persecution of female Falun Gong practitioners. Representative Mark Carron also gave a presentation and showed his strong support for the human rights of Falun Gong practitioners.
Several media conducted interviews, including the Boston Globe, WGBH, New England Radio News Net, World Journal, and Epoch Times. After the press conference, WGBH invited a practitioner to participate in a Falun Gong special program at night.
