1) Wang Shusheng, male, born in 1973 in Jinchang City, Gansu Province
Wang Shusheng graduated from Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology, Shaanxi Province. In January 2000, he took part in the general examination of graduate schools in China. His grades exceeded the admission standards, and he was qualified for entrance into the department of Philosophy of Science and Technology in the Humanities School in Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology. But, during the interview, Zhao Anqi, the Secretary of the School asked him whether or not he practiced Falun Gong. After Wang answered yes, Zhao forced him to write a guarantee that he would not practice, and to slander Dafa and Teacher. Wang Shusheng really wanted to attend the school at that time, so he couldn't help but write the vague guarantee. After going home, Wang thought it over, and he realized that he had committed a sly wrongdoing. So he then called Secretary Zhao to tell him that he wanted to take back the guarantee, and express his position that he still firmly practiced Falun Dafa. Because of this, he was deprived of his qualification as a graduate student, and was stripped of his right to any further education. Soon afterwards, Wang Shusheng went to Beijing to appeal within his legal rights. After recording his name and address, officials in the Beijing Yongdingmen Appealing Office took him into custody, and handed him over to the Jinchang Police Office. Wang Shusheng was unlawfully detained for 15 days. He was then released back to his home after his parents were forced to pay a penalty of 5,000 Yuan RMB (roughly 10 months' salary of an average worker in China).
In the year 2000, Wang Shusheng wrote two letters to his friend in Jinchang City, while he was working in Xi'an. He wrote his cultivation experiences and understandings in the letters. Later, the letters were illegally confiscated by Jinchang City police officers. The Jinchang Public Security Bureau, working with Gansu Provincial Public Security Bureau, sent police to Xi'an to secretly arrest Wang Shusheng. Without notifying his parents or showing any identification, the police took him away from his workplace in October. First, Wang Shusheng was detained in the Shapo Police Station in Xi'an for 15 days. Then he was sentenced to two years of labor education, after he was brought back to Jinchang City where he was detained for over ten days. Just before the Chinese New Year of 2001, he was sent to the Lanzhou Labor Camp.
2) Liu Dianxun, male, born in 1976 in Heze City, Shandong Province
Liu Dianxun started his graduate studies at System Engineering Specialty in the School of Engineering and Science of Xi'an Traffic and Transportation University in 1998. In December 2000, he was tricked into going to the Beishapo Police Station in Xi'an by police officers from the Beilin Public Security Bureau. There, he was detained for over 4 months. At that time, they did not notify his parents or show any arrest or detention warrant. After being detained, Liu Dianxun's father went to Xi'an to visit his son, and attempted to bail him out. He was told: "All people who practiced Falun Gong were arrested last year." It was ordered from higher authorities. Because Liu Dianxun wouldn't let go of his faith in Dafa, he was sentenced to a year in a labor camp on April 10, 2001. He is now detained in the Fengxiang County Labor Camp of Shaanxi Province. Liu Dianxun should have graduated in April 2001, and begun work at the job he had already found that would commence after finishing school. Only because of his faith in Dafa, was he deprived of his rights to continue his education and to work.
3) Ren Junxian, male, born in 1974 in Fengxiang County, Shaanxi Province
Ren Junxian entered the specialty of Formation and Control of Materials in the Mechanical Engineering school of Xi'an Traffic and Transportation University in 1996. In October 1999, Ren Junxian legally went to Beijing to appeal. He was arrested, and then taken back to his school by his schoolteacher along with Xi'an policemen residing in Beijing.
Because he wouldn't give up cultivating Falun Dafa, the school suspended Ren Junxian while his university teacher carried out the suspension procedure. In June 2001, under pressure from the school Secretary, Ren Junxian's mom was afraid that he would be expelled, so she cried and begged him to write the guarantee that he would not practice anymore. Under tremendous mental pressure, Ren Junxian painfully wrote the guarantee-- not to appeal, not to practice, not to have contact with other practitioners, and so on.
In March 2001, Ren Junxian was preparing for his thesis defense. Suddenly, on March 23, he was secretly kidnapped by officials from the Shaanxi Province Security Bureau. After being detained in the Beishapo Police Station for three days, he was sent to the Beishapo Detention Center, and is currently held there. Because Ren Junxian suddenly disappeared, the schoolteachers and his parents could not find him anywhere. Even the personnel of the public security in his university could not find him. After he had disappeared for seven days, the school received a notice from the Beishapo detention center that he had been arrested. The reason for arresting him was that a person who got arrested posting truth-clarifying materials about the Tiananmen self-immolation couldn't bear the torture and gave Ren's name to the police. Ren Junxian is now being forcefully brainwashed and forced to write understandings of Falun Gong. Since he does not write them, the police officers and superintendent have threatened that they will send him to a labor camp in Gansu Province, which would make him lose the right to finish his studies or have a job, and he would lose his future. (Ren Junxian had found a job that was ready for him, but now he is illegally detained and cannot graduate.)
4) Zhao Xunmin, born in 1978
Zhao Xunmin entered the Electronic Communication School in Xi'an Traffic and Transportation University in 1998. Due to appealing to the Chinese government in 1999, Zhao was forced to leave the school temporarily. Zhao was later taken back to school and sent to a brainwashing class.
5) Yang Minghui, born in 1977
Yang Minghui was a student in the Computer Department of the Adult Education School of Xi'an Traffic and Transportation University. Yang disappeared on some night in March 2001 while distributing materials regarding the truth of the Tiananmen self-immolation.
