1. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Nobody is Interested in an Exhibition Defaming Falun Dafa

A work unit in Chengdu city tried to organize its employees to visit an exhibition defaming Falun Dafa in Yueliangwan. Even after several days had past, not one person had signed up for the visit. When pressed by the supervisor, the employees declined and said to each other, "You can go. I don't want to go at all." They showed no interest in it. At last, in order to make an acceptable report to higher authorities, the work unit had to name a few employees to go together with the management.

2. [Northeast China] Stepping Out of the Labor Camp Nobly And Above-Board

Dafa disciple Liu Gang (assumed name) from Northeast China, after reading "Firmly cultivate Dafa with an unaffected heart and mind" (from Teacher's article True Nature Revealed), didn't follow the evil's arrangements at all in the labor camp. He had been detained in a small cell (a kind of punishment for firm practitioners) many times. He was illegally detained for 20 months, much longer than his term of imprisonment. After that, his sentence was increased by another 10 months. The labor camp had tried all possible means to brainwash him, but failed. His righteous beliefs and righteous thoughts greatly encouraged the other practitioners in the jail. July 16, 2001 was the date for meeting with visitors. At 9:30 A.M., two prisoners escorted him to meet visitors. He was in front of the two prisoners. When he reached the meeting-room, he didn't pause but went directly towards the gate of the labor camp. The corridor between the front building and the back building is about 150 meters long. With his firm righteous thoughts, he walked through the maze-like corridor, through six iron doors and out of the demon's den. The prisoners didn't realize what was happening until he had passed through the second iron door. When they went back to report to the guard, the guard was frightened into tears. So they then reported to the director of the labor camp. The director was at a loss as well. About seven to eight minutes after he left, the police attempted to find and seize him, but with no result.

In order not to leak the news, the authorities in the labor camp called everyone to a meeting after dinner that evening and announced, "Liu Gang has been released."

The president of a work unit respects Falun Gong practitioners very much. After he got to know the truth of Falun Dafa, he realized that Falun Gong practitioners are most righteous. Once, the director of the local police substation advised him to dismiss a Falun Gong practitioner who was being illegally detained in a labor camp at the time. He replied, "You sentenced her to one year of labor "reeducation." The vacancy here will be awaiting her for ten years. If I let her go, how could I ever find an employee as good as she is to replace her?"

4. [Chongqin City, Sichuan Province] Dafa Disciples Display Banners in Maojiashan Female Labor Camp

Jian Ping and another two practitioners were illegally punished by being sent to the Maojiashan Female Labor Camp of Chongqin city. They were arrested on June 10 for displaying Dafa banners in the labor camp.

5. [Daqin City, Shandong Province] Present Situation of Dafa Disciples in Daqin City

The Daqin Public Security Bureau illegally and secretly sentenced Liu Liping, a practitioner in Daqin city, to jail.

Tang Zengye and another two Dafa practitioners in Daqin city were illegally arrested at their residence on July 3. One of them simply walked out of the jail nobly and above-board. It is said that another has also left the detention house (not confirmed yet). Tang Zengye had been on a hunger strike to protest his illegal detention ever since he was arrested. But Daqin Public Security Bureau and Daqin Detention House force-fed her. The guards dragged her back and forth on the floor when she refused to be force-fed. Presently, her nose is swollen, and no pipe can be inserted. Her life is in great peril. She has been forcibly injected liquids (e.g., glucose, brine, etc.) every day.

6. [China] Jiang's Criminal Regime Takes Strict Precautions Against Dafa Practitioners And Their Family Members Going Abroad

Recently, we learned from several travel agencies, that they have been deprived of the right to handle tourists going to the States and other western countries. They are only allowed to organize tours going to countries that neighbor China. .

Even though people are not traveling to western countries, travel agents are repeatedly asked about whether they practice Falun Gong. Also their family members are always investigated. How fearful Jiang's criminal regime must be that a practitioner will tell the truth in a western country.

7. [Chongqing] Wicked Policemen of Tongnan City Torture Falun Dafa Practitioners

As of now, the police in Tongnan County have sent a few dozen practitioners to forced labor camps and detained many more. (Minghui reported a partial name list earlier.) During February and March, five practitioners were arrested because of distributing truth-clarifying materials. In July, police ransacked practitioner Cao Hui's house without a search warrant. The policemen found some Dafa materials so they detained the whole family including his wife, Ding Hongmei, and his daughter. Cao's family was not released until now.

The hatchet man leading the persecution is Zhang Liang, the Director of Department 1 of the Tongnan Public Security Bureau. He personally instructed the thugs to go all out to arrest Falun Dafa practitioners. He also personally monitored the practitioners' homes all night. Moreover, he "rewarded" his high school teacher by arresting one of the teacher's family members (a practitioner).

Vice Director of the Tongnan Public Security Bureau Wen Yong, who is responsible for leading the persecution against Falun Gong, does the same wicked things as Zhang Liang.

These two thugs have another accomplice, the director of the Tongnan detention center, Li Zhigui. In March 2000, Li Zhigui put eight detained women practitioners in shackles and handcuffs. He locked the chain of the handcuff to the shackle on the right foot, making it impossible for the person in this device to stand. The eight women practitioners could not take care of themselves and they even needed others to help them use the toilet. Moreover, he put a woman practitioner, Tan Zhuying, in "Big Shackles," a device used on death-penalty criminals. It not only has shackles and handcuffs but is also tied to an iron chain on the person's neck connected to two heavy steel bars-- one on the chest and one on the back--each about two centimeters in diameter and one meter long. The bottom ends of the steel bars were connected by a chain between the legs. Some practitioners were locked in "Big Shackles" for over 20 days and some for about 10 days. The vicious Li Zhigui doesn't allow taking off the "Big Shackles" even when the women practitioners are menstruating. In April 2000, Li Zhigui thought of another method to torture practitioners. He locked eight practitioners in a dark cell for 40 days; the windows were sealed and there was only an 8" square hole in the door.

8. [Harbin, Heilongjiang Province] Police from Daowai District Kidnap Practitioner

Around 4 or 5 PM on July 4, practitioner Zhao Hongxing received a phone call while he was at home. The caller said he was from his work unit and called just to make sure he was at home. After Zhao hung up the phone, seven or eight policemen broke into his house and put handcuffs on him. They also punched his face and eyes, kicked him, and took him away after the beating. Zhao's mother saw the entire incident and was deeply frightened. Later, another family member inquired about Zhao at his work unit but the people at his work unit said they didn't know anything.

9. [Qiqihar, Heilongjiang Province] Help my Sister Bai Lizhu

My elder sister Bai Lizhu went to Beijing to appeal in May 2000. After she came back home, she was illegally detained in the Shuanghe Forced Labor Camp in Qiqihar City; she has been detained for over one year. The forced labor camp doesn't allow relatives to send in clothes or visit the detainees. I accuse the Shuanghe Forced Labor Camp of illegally detaining my sister past the term.

Recently, many relatives of the practitioners who are detained in the Shuanghe Forced Labor Camp went there to ask for the release of practitioners. They asked the guards why they still kept the practitioners past term. The guards answered that the higher authorities instructed them to do so. I don't even know if my sister is still alive.

10. [Yushu City, Jilin Province] Practitioner Yang Xiaoyong Disappeared for Two Years

Practitioner Yang Xiaoyong went to Beijing to appeal on July 22, 1999. He disappeared after that. His mother, brother and sister-in-law were also detained and sent to a forced labor camp.

11. [China] Two Practitioners Kidnapped

Beijing Practitioner Fa Li (female) disappeared on June 29 2001, and there has not been any information about her as of now.

Practitioner Zhang Yu (female) from Hefei City, Anhui Province, was taken away to the local Baohe Police Sub-station in April. Later, she escaped from the evil forces by using her wisdom to walk out of the police station. She was homeless for over a month. In July, she returned home but policemen took her away again around 11 PM July 21. Her situation is still unknown to us.

12. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Falun Dafa Practitioners on Hunger Strike

Many Dafa (Great Law; Universal Principles) practitioners in Anshan City, Liaoning Province were arrested and detained because they persisted in cultivation and refused to give up their beliefs. Most fellow practitioners in the No.2 and No.3 Detention Center have been on a hunger strike for about a month to protest the unjust and inhumane treatment. Despite their efforts for freedom, Anshan City public security officers don't set the practitioners free, and keep information from leaking out. They don't allow family members to visit them either. The detained practitioners' situation is worrisome.

13. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Falun Dafa Practitioners are brutally Tortured

More than 200 Dafa practitioners are detained in the Anshan City Labor Camp. In the earlier brainwashing classes, Dafa practitioners were put under tight surveillance 24 hours a day and everything from their speech to their actions were restricted. Their righteous thoughts and faith, though, have never been shaken. Consequently, the persecution was escalated. For those steadfast and unyielding practitioners, family members were not even allowed to visit. The guards kept information from leaking out to the outside world. In an effort to deceive the practitioners, the officials distorted and altered the original meaning of Zhuan Falun and Teacher Li's articles. They used those who were "reformed" to try and bewilder Dafa practitioners. When they could not achieve their objective, they would wantonly persecute Dafa practitioners. The practitioners did the excessive forced labor together with the criminals in the daytime. The criminals were intentionally positioned amongst the practitioners to intimidate and physically harass them. The guards didn't allow the practitioners to eat during the breaks but instead beat and cursed them, and also deprived them of sleep. They forced the practitioners to sit on a stool, which is narrow and small. (The specially constructed stool, with half a nail protruding, is 20 centimeters long and 2 centimeters wide.) The criminals would brutally beat the practitioners if they moved slightly. If Dafa practitioners were unyielding, these criminals would not be allowed to rest. Therefore, the criminals vented their anger on Dafa practitioners. While beating the practitioners they said, "The political commissioner said that it would be O.K as long as we don't beat you to death..." The guards used brutal means to torture Dafa practitioners all while admitting that Dafa practitioners are good.

14. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] A Falun Dafa Practitioner's Suffering

My name is Mingyan, and I'm a Falun Dafa practitioner. I went to Beijing to appeal on the night of December 2, 1999, and arrived at the Appealing Office at 10:00 am on December 3. From there I was taken against my will to the building of Anshan's Agency in Beijing. I was detained there for one day and one night, and then escorted back to Anshan at 9 pm on December 4. At 8 am on December 5, the head of the local police station tied my neck tightly with my gauze kerchief, and he didn't release me until he saw me showing the whites of my eyes. He pulled my hair, which was everywhere on the ground, and then beat and kicked me so violently that I could not even breathe. They sent me to Yuemingshan Detention Center on the same day. I was extorted of 500 Yuan RMB when I left the police station.

On September 3, 2000, I was ordered to the police station. At 3 o'clock, six people came to ransack my home and took all my Dafa books away. Then I was confined. They tortured me, shocked me with an electric baton, forced me to "ride the airplane" [with one's head and back bending over low at 90 degrees and two arms lifted up high from one's back], and then shocked my feet arches, the palms of my hands and my back. They didn't stop torturing me until 8:30 pm. They extorted 500 Yuan RMB from my family members before releasing me. My husband's work unit wanted to dismiss him. Under serious external pressure, my husband had no choice but to divorce me. Currently, I am forced to leave home and wander about.

15. [Cangzhou City, Hebei Province] Where is Justice?

Around July 27, 2001, police unjustly arrested many Dafa practitioners in

Changzhou City, Hebei Province In the urban district of Changzhou City, about 50 Dafa practitioners were arrested. Many other Dafa practitioners in the neighboring counties and cities were also arrested or monitored.

16. [Beijing City] Dafa Practitioner Zhao Zhihong from Chaoyang District Is Illegally Arrested While Distributing Falun Dafa Truth-Clarifying Materials

Beijing Chaoyang District Dafa practitioner Zhao Zhihong, female, is 39 years old. She was arrested while distributing Dafa truth-clarifying materials at noon on May 24, 2001. She was unjustly sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor "re-education," and is detained in the Tuanhe Labor Camp.
