Some Examples of How Gongan County in Hubei Province Persecutes Dafa Practitioners
(Clearwisdom.net) The 610 Office (Government department established
specifically to detain and persecute Falun Gong practitioners) in Gongan
County, Hubei Province, has quotas to meet from higher authorities with regard
to forcing Falun Dafa practitioners to give up their faith in Truthfulness,
Compassion and Forbearance. In order to fulfill these quotas, they have adopted
all sorts of methods to persecute practitioners. The following cases are just a
few examples.
1) Guo Henghong, 37, female. In January 2001, Liao Xuesheng and 4 other people from the 610 Office broke
into Guo Henghong's home by kicking in the door, and took her by force to the
detention center. Because she didn't follow their orders and demands, Guo was
beaten many times. They shackled her feet and cuffed her hands behind her back.
In June, while she was on hunger strike, her stomach bled during a force-feeding
incident and she was then released. She couldn't go back home and is now
wandering about.
2) Tan Lizhen, 48, female. In March 2001, when Tan was selling sugar cane in a street market, Zhou
Liangqing and some other people from the 610 Office deceived her into going to
the detention center. In the middle of May, she went on a hunger strike and
didn't have food or water for 6 days. During this time, the people in the 610
Office continued to kick and punch her. They shackled her feet and cuffed her
hands behind her back, driving her to the brink of death. When her husband and
son came to take her home, people from the 610 Office threatened them, saying,
"Don't let her go to Beijing; (translator's note: to appeal for Falun
Dafa) don't let her join others doing Falun Dafa exercises; don't let her
distribute flyers." If she were captured doing any of these things, her son
would be fined 15,000 Yuan (Yuan, Chinese dollar. The average monthly income
of an urban worker is 500 Yuan.) And if her son didn't have that much money,
he would be thrown in jail. Her husband feared that he and his son might be
implicated, so he locked her up at home and beat her. She has since left her
home, and has not returned. 3) Ni Youmei, female practitioner, 36. When Ni was distributing flyers and clarifying the truth in May 2001,
officials from the 610 Office grabbed her, took her to the detention center.
Here, they dragged her facing backwards, so that she was unable to see where she
was going, tied her with ropes, then punched and kicked her. Her body was
covered with bruises. On June 1st, an open public trial was held and
Ni was placed among criminals paraded through the streets who were to be
executed. She was tied up with ropes, her hands were cuffed behind her back and
a board was hung from her neck. She was taken to the execution to be
intimidated. In the parade and on the platform of the public trial, Ni kept on
protesting such inhumane treatment, calling out "Falun Dafa is the
righteous Fa," "An unprecedented wrong is being done to Falun
Dafa." "Restore the reputation of my Teacher." They stuffed a
towel into her mouth and tightened the rope around her mouth. The corner of her
mouth bled. Her body was stiff and cold when she was taken back to the detention
center. They only released her when situation became critical due to a hunger
strike. She is now homeless.
4) Yu Deqin, a 46-year-old female, teaches in the County Experimental Primary
School. In June 2001 when Yu was lecturing in the class, Zhou Liangqing and Zhang
Zuyun of the 610 Office took her to the guesthouse of the School of Finance in
Gongan County (a place for the 610 Office to persecute practitioner). Ten people
from the 610 Office took three shifts and tortured her in turn, forcing her to
write "a promise" to give up practicing. They kept her standing up for
40 hours and denied her sleep. They beat her into kneeling, kicked her, slapped
her face, and smeared a pungent balm around her eyes and nose. Later they
illegally put her in the detention center. She has since been released.
In this year, over 30 practitioners have been illegally detained and
persecuted in Gongan County. Of these, 3 were sent to labor camps. As of now, 5
practitioners are being kept in the detention center. The people responsible: Secretaries of Political and Judiciary Committee in Gongan County: Hu Siyang,
Peng Shaobo Vice Director of Gongan County Police Department: Chen Peide Heads of Gongan County Detention Center: Chen Gang, Liu Guohua, Yuan Changwu Section One of Gongan County Police Department: Yang Liangfu, Liao Xuesheng,
