[Chengde City, Hebei Province] Policewoman Charged in Death of Practitioner
Latest news from Chengde City Jail where Dafa practitioner Ding Yan was
tortured to death: several policewomen beat another female practitioner to
death. While being beaten, she "fell" down a flight of stairs. Even
so, the perpetrators did not relent, but continued to kick and brutally beat
her. This may have been what caused her ruptured bladder. Eventually, the
practitioner was found dead in jail. We are not sure about her name. Further
investigation is underway.
The practitioner's relatives could not accept the abusive treatment leading
to her death, so they complained to the authorities and implicated the
policewomen. Finally, the policewoman directly responsible was put under
criminal detention and awaits sentencing. Other personnel related to the case
were punished. This case greatly affected the judiciary system in Hebei
Province. Police officers dare not subject practitioners to such brutal torture.
Even some common criminals avoided torture because of this incident.
The female group in Chengde City's Jail is no longer allowed to hold Falun

A district in a certain city set up an exhibition slandering Dafa. Once a
practitioner learned about it, he sent a truth-clarifying VCD to the chairman of
the district. On the second day, the exhibition was dismantled. Most people who
know the truth will not work for Jiang's criminal regime.
[Qingdao City, Shandong Province] City Abuzz with Talk of Corrupt Officials'
Attempt to Frame Falun Gong for Jialefu Shopping Center Explosion
On the evening of December 23, an explosion occurred in the parking lot of
Jialefu Shopping Center in Qingdao City, Shandong Province. The windows of three
cars were shattered. Shoppers were terrified. Sources reveal that afterwards,
several corrupt city officials attempted to frame Falun Gong for this. They
ordered secret investigations of Falun Gong practitioners. Citizens are aware
that the government might attempt to frame Falun Gong again.
Obviously, some officials intend to shirk their responsibility for the
accident in order to preserve their authority. At the same time, they would
frame Falun Gong and please their superiors. They wanted to incite public hatred
of Falun Gong and fabricate an excuse to illegally detain and murder kindhearted
Falun Gong practitioners. However, many citizens know the truth about Falun
Gong. Most are aware of the intentions of the corrupt officers. A year ago,
officials concocted the "Tiananmen Square Self-Immolation Incident."
Recently, they contrived another farce, that of a "madman killing his
family members." People can recognize fraud, as the authorities are always
lying.
[Northeast China] Much Truth-Clarifying Material Appears in a Certain City on
New Year's Day
On New Year's Day, practitioners in a certain city collectively stepped
forward to distribute truth-clarifying literature, post signs and hang up
banners. They clarified the truth and offered salvation to the public. It was
said that the truth-clarifying literature went into every home in some of the
areas where practitioners distributed flyers, which effectively shocked the evil
and awakened the public. Recently, a practitioner heard from an everyday person
that he received several truth-clarifying articles. He thought it was very good.
Because of this activity, many practitioners were detained. When we thought of
how the great sacrifice of these detained practitioners would awaken the
conscience of the public, we were too moved to hold back our tears.
[Beijing] Female Practitioner from Lianxiang Company Disappears
On December 25, 2001, female practitioner Song Yufei, approximately 27 years
old, disappeared. She holds a Master's degree and works in Beijing's Lianxiang
Company.
In December, as a fellow practitioner was detained, Song Yufei decided to
resign. She moved and changed her cellular phone number. On December 24, 2001,
she made a phone call to her director. The director told her that people from
the National Security Department had tracked her as she spread Dafa in
"BBS," but the head of the company did not know she was a Falun Gong
practitioner. The director suggested that in case others were suspicious of her,
she had better go to the company and find a reason to resign "with some
procedures." Maybe Song Yufei was tricked this way. She had thought of
writing a letter to resign. But on the morning of December 25th she went back to
the company to resign. Afterwards, she disappeared. We do not have any
information about her yet.
[Dingxing County, Hebei Province] Eliminate the Evil in the Brainwashing
Class
The authorities of Dingxing County of Hebei Province set up a brainwashing
class to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. The class was in Liyuzhuang
Township. The head of the brainwashing class is named Li Ping. The excruciating
methods they used on practitioners were similar to those in the Masanjia Forced
Labor Camp. Most wardens were trained and had learned the techniques for
persecuting and abusing Falun Dafa practitioners. They had just recently been
transferred from the army to civilian work. If they could not make practitioners
give up the practice, they would not be assigned a job. If they succeeded, they
would be rewarded and assigned a good job.
From then on there was "another hell in the world." Even a strong
young man could not sustain the intensified military training. The wardens beat
practitioners when they ran a little slowly or glanced at others. They shouted
the commands rapidly or slowly. If practitioners could not respond immediately,
they were beaten. The postures they forced practitioners to assume were all
harmful to their health. Even after two days some of them still had difficulty
walking. Some could not even straighten up. At night, practitioners were forced
to write lies as their so-called "experiences," slander Teacher and
Dafa, preach against other practitioners, and enlighten in a wrong way.
Practitioners were not allowed to talk with each other. Each practitioner had
his/her own warden to watch over him. Practitioners were beaten many times a
day.
The wardens were extremely brutal to determined practitioners. In
"education class," they tortured practitioners with hot chili sauce [in
the eyes and nostrils, for instance], electric batons, handcuffs, shackles,
electric chairs, cauterizing instruments, the "death bed" and other
methods. Some wardens do not want outsiders to know of their abuse of
practitioners. Sometimes, the screams are heard late at night. Practitioners are
tortured to the point of developing mental disorders, physical disabilities,
becoming black and blue from bruises all over their bodies and being rendered
incapable of taking care of themselves. The wardens even threatened
practitioners that they would torture to death whoever leaked torture
information, knowing that higher officials will not investigate death cases of
Falun Gong practitioners. Any who had been released and then divulged
information about the torture were detained again. Practitioners were forced to
pay 1,000 Yuan [300 Yuan is the average monthly income in rural China]
every month for "class expenses." The brainwashing class has lasted
for about a year.
We hope all people learn about this issue and that international human rights

[Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province] Zhang Peizeng Detained Immediately after
Release from a Forced Labor Camp
At the end of December 2001, immediately after practitioner Zhang Peizeng was
released from a labor camp, the police from Jixi City's Donghaikuang Police
Station detained him again. He hadn't even had time to visit his home. The
police attempted to force him to write the "guarantee statement" (to
give up Falun Dafa), slander Dafa and give up the practice. Zhang Peizeng said,
"I will never write the guarantee statement." The lawless police
officers threw him into the detention center again.
On December 29, 2001, police from the Political Security Department of Mishan
City's Police Department arrested male practitioner Wang Zhi. Wang Zhi did not
fear the police. "I'm innocent. You have no authority to arrest me."
He did not cooperate with the police. Now he has been on a hunger strike for 10
days. His life is in danger.

[Taikang County, Henan Province] Two Practitioners Disappear
From November 26 to 27, 2001, Dafa practitioners Li Rong (pseudonym, female,
about 22 years old) and Tiansheng (pseudonym, male, about 30 years old)
disappeared from their rental homes in Taikang County of Henan Province. We have
learned that the local police secretly kidnapped them. Some Dafa
truth-clarifying materials and silkscreen printing plates were damaged. It is suspected that the collaborators (former practitioners who have gone astray due to brainwashing and torture), Wei Dongling and her husband, Cheng Changzheng reported them
to the police. Before the accident, Wei lived with Li Rong. Afterwards, Wei was
okay, while Li Rong and Tiansheng were missing. Cheng Changzheng had twice
reported practitioners, which led to many practitioners' detention and brought
about heavy damage to Dafa.

[Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Practitioners from Wenchun Detained
Distributing Truth-Clarifying Materials
On December 31, 2001, at 8:00 p.m. a policeman from the cement factory's
police station detained an over 50-year-old female practitioner, Gao Guiqing,
an employee of a cement factory, when she was distributing Dafa truth-clarifying
materials. After two days of interrogation she was sent to Mudanjiang City. Now
she is in a "610 Office" brainwashing class. (The "610
Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with
absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other
political and judiciary systems).
On the night of January 1, 2002, policemen from Wenchun Police Station
detained female practitioner Li Jingwei, male practitioner Wang Yongmao (both of
them are employees in a research institute) and female practitioner Yu Liqun (an
employee in an agriculture college) when the practitioners were hanging up
banners. Li's husband went to the police station twice to see her, but he was
not allowed to visit her. The people from the police station and the agriculture
institute said the practitioners were not allowed to sleep for two whole days.
They were sent to Mudanjiang City's Detention Center and went on a hunger strike
from the day they were detained. The policemen ransacked the three
practitioners' homes. The police also claimed they would sentence Li to six
years of imprisonment, as many Dafa truth-clarifying materials were found in her
home.

recently and designated more than 100 determined practitioners as
"Counter-Revolutionary." They also gave the list of names to their
superiors to prepare for further persecution of these practitioners.

Net and other web sites that report the truth about Falun Gong, a city's Police
Department authority in Guangxi Province stipulated that each Internet bar must
install monitoring software. They did spot checks before New Year's Day and
forced all the Internet bars that hadn't installed such software to install it
immediately.

In an internal briefing document, "Public Security Information (5)"
published on January 3, 2002, the section discussing "the public
security status of a certain District during New Year's day" gave
"Discovering Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials" top news priority
while 2 murder cases were moved to second place and stories about an accidental
fire, a case of plunder and 2 cases of theft were ranked third to fifth.
[Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] The Inside Story of What Happened to
Zheng Yuyan
Zheng Yuyan, female, 43 years old, used to be director of the Party committee
of the Foodstuff Storage Bureau, Shenzhen City, but she had already handed in
her application to resign from the Party before she was arrested. She was one of
the veteran Dafa practitioners in Shenzhen City. Since the authorities began to
persecute Falun Gong, she has participated in the appeal to the city committee.
Since October 1999, she has been arrested many times, the last time January
2001. Now she has been illegally imprisoned at the Sanshui Forced Labor Camp,
Guangdong Province. No one is permitted to visit her. She has a son about 8
years old who is under no one's care.
[Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Please Pay Attention to the Recent Situation
of Practitioners Wang Shuai and Wang Lin
Falun Dafa practitioner Wang Shuai from Dalian City was arrested in December
2001 because of delivering truth-clarifying materials. Where he was imprisoned
is unknown.
Practitioner Wang Lin from Dalian Bay was illegally detained at the Dalian's
Forced Labor Camp for delivering Falun Dafa truth-clarifying materials. Because
he refused to give up the practice of cultivation, he was illegally sent to the
Changtu's Guanshan Forced Labor Camp, Shenyang City, on December 5, 2001.
Policemen Miao Zhuang and director of the police department, Geng Yongfeng,
have illegally arrested Falun Dafa practitioner Wang Lin. They had also arrested
other Dafa practitioners without due process of law and often sent them to
forced labor camps. One female practitioner was sent to a mental hospital after
15 days' detention because she refused to give up practicing Falun Dafa
cultivation. One month later, after these criminal policemen extorted money from
her relatives, she was removed from the mental hospital. She has been harmed
badly both physically and mentally.
Geng Yongfeng has been removed from his post. The current police department

Relatives Rebuke Police from the Dafangshen Police Station/ Dalian Bay Town for
Abducting Practitioners to a Brainwashing Class
Before October of 2000, policemen from Dafangshen abducted eight
practitioners to a brainwashing class and then they shamelessly extorted 2,000
Yuan [about US$230, about one year's average income in rural China] from
each practitioner. If there were no money available, they would go to
practitioners' homes to remove their furniture. Practitioner Chen's husband went
to the police station to ask to have his own property returned to him. The
police officers rebuked him without returning anything. Then his mother went to
see the director of the police station to ask for the return of their
belongings, and said, "My daughter-in-law did not go anywhere, but you
arrested her; now my son and she are separated. Such a good family was broken
up. What you have done has profoundly affected our normal life."

[Haikou City, Hainan Province] Exposing Brainwashing Class Enforcers'
Evil Deeds
Enforcers of Haikou City's "610 Office" [an agency specifically
created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of

organized a brainwashing class at the Xiuying City's militia training camp.
Falun Gong practitioners who were abducted here were not allowed to sleep, sit,
or lie down--only stand! Sometimes practitioners had to continue standing for
more than 20 days. As soon as one would fall asleep, his/her hair would be
yanked, or s/he would be kicked. The enforcers made special trips to Beijing, to
Liaoning Province's Masanjia Forced Labor Camp and other places to learn how to
brainwash practitioners. The authorities also invited some former practitioners
from Beijing who had turned to the evil to help in brainwashing. Five or six of
them surrounded one Dafa practitioner. They took advantage of the fact that the
sleep-deprived practitioners were mentally sluggish to imbue their wrongful
"enlightenment" onto them to confuse the genuine Dafa practitioners.
Recently, enforcers from the brainwashing class started to kidnap practitioners
again. We remind practitioners to send forth righteous thoughts to resist these
evil intentions.

Beijing's Asian Olympic Village
Female Practitioner Zhou Hui who was living near Beijing's Asian Olympic
Village was recently arrested. We have no details but hope practitioners who

City's Detention Center
Different Deeds Committed by various Individuals:
Director Zhao: Physically and verbally abused an unlawfully detained
practitioner who was on a hunger strike and would not cooperate with
force-feeding. In order to insult our Teacher, director Zhao also ordered jail
guard Zhao Xianwei and other criminal prisoners to write Teacher's name on the
practitioner's feet and force them practitioner to stand up in order to
"step on Teachers' name."
Director Zhuang: Wrote Teacher's name on a paper and forced a practitioner to
step on it.
Zhao Xianwei: Jail guard; relentlessly and often beat practitioners, verbally
and physically abused practitioners, forced the hunger-striking practitioners to
stand days and nights without sleeping and had criminal prisoners monitor the
practitioners.
Ma Xinglai: Jail guard participated in beating practitioners when he
force-fed them.
Jail guard Yan: While on duty, he ordered criminal inmates to physically
abuse a practitioner who was on hunger strike. He also yelled, "Bend down
(keep the position like 'riding an airplane') if you are not eating."
Wang Gang: Criminal inmate, "head honcho" in the cell, helped the
guard torture and curse practitioners.
Zhu Guorui: Criminal inmate (cell head) also helped the guard to torture and
curse practitioners.
[China] Abusive Police Persecute Practitioners
On November 5, 2001, seven or eight policemen beat practitioner Zhao Qiumei,
female, 25 years old, at Tiananmen Square. One of the policemen kicked her
private parts so hard that her head was thrown back to hit the wall and she
immediately lost consciousness. She woke up after two days with a swollen face,
blue and swollen eyes and an injured leg. The policemen who beat her were from
the Tiananmen Police Station.
On December 4, 2001, policeman You Hongliang from Jilin City's Industrial Oil
Manufacturing Police Station and another unknown policeman violently beat female
practitioner Qu Guirong and then ransacked her home.
On November 25, 2001, female practitioner Xu Chunrong unfurled a banner
reading "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance" on the Tiananmen
Rostrum. She was sent to the Tiananmen Police Station. Her head was slammed
against the wall and she immediately lost consciousness. Policemen did not give
up on her, but twice put drops of an unknown drug into her nose, which caused a
nosebleed. An abusive policeman stepped on her abdomen and ordered a doctor to
inject her with drugs that affected her heart. Her whole body began twitching,
she had difficult breathing and was in critical condition.
Spies and insane convicts were sent into the iron cages where practitioners
were detained. They attempted to beat practitioners. Practitioners sent forth
righteous thoughts and ruined the vicious plot.
Over more than ten days detention, Xu Chunrong did not cooperate with
perpetrators no matter where she was, at Beijing's Police Department, the local
police department, the detention center or hospital. When she was awake she
would always tell policemen to keep in mind that, "Falun Dafa is
Great," and the saying, "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance"
and "Good people will be rewarded with a good future." During that
time she constantly vomited blood. After December 4 or 5, she lost
consciousness, vomited blood, went into convulsions and could not take any food
and water. On December 10, at midnight, Xu Chunrong was sent back to her
hometown in a local police car. Near death, she is being detained at the No. 3
Detention Center. Her aunt is taking care of her young daughter.
[Dehui City, Jilin Province] News Briefs from Dehui City
On December 28, 2001 from 11p.m. to 4a.m. the next day, lawless police
officers broke into the homes of practitioners Wang Shuzhen, Dong Yunqin, Zhao
Yaqin, and Jiang Lide, searching and ransacking the homes. They confiscated a
recording device and pocketed some cash stolen from Jiang Lide. They also
abducted four practitioners from their homes, including Wang Shuzhen, Dong
Yunqin, Liu Shugang and Zhao Yaqin. Wang Shuzhen and Dong Yunqin have been sent
to Dehui City's Detention Center and illegally detained them without valid
reason.

[Baishan City, Jilin Province] Multiple Arrests of Practitioners by Personnel
from Baishan City's Political, Legal and Police Departments
On the evening of December 31, 2001, when the whole world was celebrating the
New Year, officers of Baishan City's Police Department duped practitioner Yang
Jingwei, a 29-year-old university graduate/computer specialist, into going to
his work unit, the Hunjiang Power Plant, with the excuse of "having a
party," and afterward kidnapped him and transported him into a detention
center for persecution. The practitioner was just back from visiting relatives
in his hometown, Liaoyuan City in Jilin Province.
Around December 29, 2001, enforcers from Baishan City's Forced Labor Camp
collaborated with people from the Hongqi Police Station in Badaojiang District.
They deceived an elderly practitioner, Yao Xucai, who had been released but was
still under surveillance, to return to the labor camp under the pretense of
"As the situation at year's end is very serious, you are required to stay
in the labor camp for a couple more days." The next day, they hastily and
secretly sent Yao to the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City. Yao
Xucai is 65 years old and is a determined practitioner. There are more than a
dozen people in his family who cultivate Dafa.
On the evening of December 31, 2001, authorities from the National Security
Bureau of Baishan City abducted female practitioner Jing Xiaohong to a detention
center and tortured her. Jing Xiaohong, 33 years old, is a university graduate.
She holds a resident registration card from Dalian City and used to work in
Beijing. She came back to Baishan City to visit her relatives on New Year's Day.
At present, Yang Jingwei and Jing Xiaohong are staging a hunger strike in
Baishan City's Detention Center to protest the unlawful persecution. Today is
their sixth day.

[Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province] Persistent Arrest of Dafa Practitioners
at the Hands of People from Hegang City's Police Department
At 4:00 p.m. on January 5, 2002, practitioner Liu Xia, who before July 22nd,
1999 was a clothing cutter at "Great World" and a former volunteer
assistant director, was arrested by a lawless police officer from the Shengli
Police Station. She and her relatives' homes were ransacked. The villains didn't
find anything they could utilize.
Even though Liu Xia displayed symptoms of convulsion at the police station,
the policemen didn't let her go. They sent her to a hospital, kept her there for
one day and then, after she recovered, sent her to No.2 Detention Center. Her
husband is also a practitioner and was forced to leave home to avoid
persecution. Her son, who had just entered junior middle school, is also watched
by the police and is now being taken care of by their relatives.
Practitioner Deng Aimin, female, from the Xinnan District of Hegang City did
truth-clarifying work and was arrested by policemen waiting on spot. They
directly sent her to the No.2 Detention Center.
Practitioner Du Guijie worked at the Injection Room on 5th floor
of Hegang City's Hospital. S/he clarified the truth to the patients who came
there. A vile person reported the practitioner to the police. Around New Year's Day that
practitioner was put into the No.2 Detention Center.
A while ago, a practitioner in Hegang City was illegally sentenced to 6 years
of forced labor for distributing Dafa truth-clarifying materials. The police
officers even claimed, "Once caught, whoever distributes truth-clarifying
materials will be sentenced to 3 years (forced labor)."
[Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province] Domestic Terrorism and Escalating
Persecution Against Kind People - Deputy Director of Jiamusi City Creates Strife
On January 5, 2002, Jiamusi City's TV station broadcast a program related to
the meeting "Handling the Falun Gong Issue," chaired by the deputy
director and mayor Xu Beijun in the city's suburb where Xu made a speech and
arranged for the persecution. This is another side of the escalating persecution
against kind people and also of the domestic terrorist acts committed by
criminal officials during New Year's Day and the Spring Festival in Jiamusi
City.

Ransack Practitioner's Home
At 9:00 a.m. on December 29, 2001, deputy director Li of Halaha Township's
Police Station led three policemen to break into practitioner Zhang Xuedong's
home. They conducted an illegal search, confiscated over 3,000 pieces of Dafa
materials and abducted Yuan Xuefeng who had gone there to do some work. He has
since been released. At present, Zhang Xuedong and his wife have little choice
but to leave home to avoid further persecution.

In March 2001, Beijing Police illegally arrested practitioner Liang Xiaoying
from the Yanjiao Tunnel Bureau. The practitioner is in his/her 30's and his/her
current circumstances are not known.
