(Clearwisdom.net) On October 23^rd, 2002 member of Mexican Congress Mr. Acosta Salazar and Falun Dafa practitioners from Mexico, Argentina, Australia and Canada held a joint press conference about the Jiang regime's persecution of Falun Gong. Three TV stations, three radio stations and several news agencies had reporters attending the press conference.

Congressman Acosta Salazar introduced his personal experiences of practicing Falun Gong to the media. He said that he had back pain for a long time, and after hearing about Falun Dafa, he immediately wanted to learn it. He stated that Falun Gong is a cultivation system following the universal principle of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance." He also played the video program "History's Witness" to the media and showed them magazines like "Compassion." He emphasized that much evidence had shown that Jiang's regime used cruel methods to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. These actions are not allowed in Mexico.

He also mentioned the U.S. Congressional Resolution #188. He said he would try to pass a similar resolution among the Mexican Congress that had 500 members. He announced three points to the media:

1. The Foreign Affairs Ministry of Mexico will appeal to United Nations to investigate China's persecution against Falun Gong.
2. The Foreign Affairs Ministry of Mexico will request the United Nations to launch a special investigation about the true situation in China.
3. Acosta Salazar himself will initialize a motion that Mexican Congress Members request the Foreign Affairs Ministry and President Fox to strongly express that they are against the persecution.

During the conference, artist and painter Ms. Zhang Cuiying spoke to the media. Ms. Zhang is an Australian citizen. She told the audience about how she went to China to appeal. She had expressed her belief in Falun Dafa and "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance," so she was detained in four prisons for eight months. She hoped that her paintings would inspire the kind Mexican people to lead more peaceful and harmonious lives, thus laying the groundwork for a bright future. She believed that when everyone worked together in harmony, this brutal persecution would end.

One Mexican practitioner went up and spoke to the audience. He explained what Falun Gong was and called on the people to support justice and stop the persecution in China immediately.

With a lot of media attending the press conference, Congressman Acosta Salazar stated that this press conference was very successful. He once again emphasized his support to the Falun Gong practitioners' appeal for an immediate stop of the persecution and said that he would stand up for Falun Gong no matter what happened.
