Practitioner Han Yuejuan, the Widow of a Deceased UN Military Observer, is Illegally Sentenced to Six-Year Prison Term
November 4, 2002
(Clearwisdom.com) Falun Dafa practitioner Han Yuejuan, from Dongshen
District, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, is the widow of a deceased UN
military observer. Jiang's dictatorial government sentenced her to a six-year
prison term because she adhered to her belief that to be a good person is the
right way to live.
Since July 22, 1999, when the regime first began to persecute and slander
Falun Gong, Han Yuejuan had been doing Dafa work all along, validating Dafa,
going to Beijing several times to appeal for Dafa, clarifying the truth of Dafa
and other good works. To avoid persecution, she had to leave home at the
beginning of 2001 and has wandered about since then. On June 8, 2001 she was
arrested. Since she used to be a volunteer in charge of the Dafa assistance
center in Guangzhou City, the authorities claimed she was an organizer and
sentenced her to a six-year prison term.
Han Yuejuan's husband, Liu Mingfang, was a military observer in the UN Peace
Force. He died while on duty and was proclaimed a hero by the United Nations.
She and their son have been receiving a pension from the United Nations.
We hereby call on the overseas practitioners and UN Human Rights
Organizations to become involved in the issue to assist Han Yuejuan for an
immediate release from prison.
