Out Harsh Sentences to Falun Dafa Practitioners -- the Longest Jail Term Is Ten Years The Yuzhong County Court in Gansu Province has held unlawful trials of nine Falun Dafa
practitioners. Jin Jilin was illegally sentenced to ten years in prison. Jin Faming and Wang Yinghe
were illegally sentenced to eight years in prison. Lu Yanben, Peng Xibin, Mao Libing, Wu Bingqi,
Wang Yingcun, and Jin Fashui received illegal prison terms ranging between three and seven years. 2. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] The Ganjingzi District Court Plans to Hold Unlawful Trial of
Falun Dafa Practitioners Yang Chuanjun, Tian Jun and Spouse, and Zhang Yong Falun Dafa practitioner Yang Chuanjun from Dalian City, Liaoning Province has spent over seven
months in the Yaojia Detention Center since being unlawfully arrested by the Dalian police on April
24. According to police sources, the Ganjingzi District Court of Dalian City is about to hold a
trial in a couple of days. It is expected that Yang Chuanjun and three other practitioners arrested
at the same time will be brought to the courtroom. The three practitioners include Tian Jun and
spouse, and Zhang Yong. 3. [Daqing, Heilongjiang Province] The Daqing Petroleum and Chemical General Factory Plans to
Hold Illegal Brainwashing Classes The Daqing Petroleum and Chemical General Factory is preparing for brainwashing classes as a
result of pressure from higher authorities. Each subsidiary factory is drafting a list of
practitioner attendees. Each factory will contribute 5,000 Yuan and each attendee will have to pay
300 Yuan [500 Yuan is equal to the average monthly salary of an urban worker]. At the same
time, two "guardians" are to be assigned to each practitioner. Some practitioners have
been forced to leave home in order to avoid this persecution. 4. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Sui Ximin from Mulan County,
Heilongjiang Province Is Arrested by the Xiangfang Farm Police Station Falun Dafa practitioner Sui Ximin is from Mulan County, Heilongjiang Province. He went to the
Xiangfang Farm to visit a fellow practitioner in April 2002 while he was working on odd jobs in
Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. The Xiangfang Farm Police Station arrested him, and his
whereabouts are not known at the moment. No one is taking care of his 70-year-old mother and young
child at home. 5. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Lawless Officials Set Up Private Jails and Hold Secret
Brainwashing Classes Lawless officials in Dalian City, Liaoning Province have set up secret brainwashing centers in
various districts in preparation for the Party's 16th Congress. To keep everything under
cover, lawless officials held illegal brainwashing classes in residential buildings, and small or
mid-sized hotels. It has been verified that the Hongxia Hotel on Sichou Road holds a brainwashing
center on behalf of the Shahe District. The brainwashing class takes up both the first and second
floors. Falun Dafa practitioners are locked up in isolation, and each practitioner is held in a
separate room. 6. [Dehui City, Jilin Province] The Dehui Detention Center is Holding Many Falun Dafa
Practitioners; Falun Dafa Practitioner Remains in Custody While in Critical Condition A Falun Gong truth-clarification materials producing site was damaged in late October, and the
practitioners arrested there are being held in the Dehui City Detention Center. Other Falun Dafa
practitioners arrested at the same time include Wang Chunbo, Liu Jingchun, businessman Du, and a
fellow practitioner from the Nongan area. Female Falun Dafa practitioner Yingzi is in critical condition as a result of her hunger strike
in the Dehui City Detention Center. On November 21, the detention center issued notice to her family
members that her life was in imminent danger. However, the detention center authorities have refused
to release her. They will be held responsible for any consequences that may result. 7. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Li Houli Is Arrested On the morning of September 12, 2002, as Falun Dafa practitioner Li Houli stepped out of his
home, he was arrested by police officers who had been waiting outside his door. The police then
illegally searched Li's home without presenting any documents or search warrants. The police also
took possession of his cash savings without leaving receipts. The Xingouqiao Police Station, the Office of Retirees of the Qingshan Heating and Electric
Factory, and the Residential Committee in the Redian District participated in the arrest and search. 8. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Details of the Persecution in the Brainwashing Center in the
Qingshan District, Wuhan City Members of the "610 Office" [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong,
with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and
judiciary systems] and police officers in the Qingshan District of Wuhan City, Hubei Province
started arresting Falun Dafa practitioners in mid-September, 2002. They were arrested either at home
or at work and sent to a brainwashing center in Qingcheng District. The brainwashing center has
placed practitioners under round-the-clock surveillance, forbidding them from talking to each other.
Practitioners have also been deprived of sleep, and are subjected to brainwashing day and night.
Collaborators [former practitioners who have renounced Falun Dafa under extreme physical and
mental pressure] have been called in to take turns trying to coerce practitioners to give up
their belief. The "lenient" approach is that collaborators persuade with "kind"
words, while the "harsh" approach involves brutal beatings. Practitioners on hunger
strikes have been tortured by brutal force-feeding. The brainwashing center is a living hell. Members of the "610 Office" in charge of the Qingshan District Brainwashing Center in

Brutally Beat Falun Dafa Practitioners On June 27, iron chains were hung half-way across the doorways of all the cells in the detention
center. All people in custody had to bow down when going in and out of the cells. The police claimed
that, "this was to strengthen the management of perpetrators of severe crimes." On July 20, a Falun Dafa practitioner with the last name Li was thrown into a female cell. The
next day, the female guard Gao Zhihua asked Li to go out to fill out a form. Li demanded that she
remove the chain across the doorway before she went out. Gao Zhihua angrily asked, "Are you
going to bend down to come out underneath the chain or not?" Then Gao started to drag Li's arm
from the other side of the door. Li refused. Gao made up excuses that Li had twisted her arm, and
called in a group of male guards carrying "leather pipes" (a kind of torture device made
of hard plastic tubes about 40 inches long and about 2 inches in diameter). The male guards rushed
toward Li and dragged her out of the cell. They pulled down Li's pants to her ankles, leaving only
her underwear on, and held her head, feet, and arms on the ground. Male guard Huang Liancheng (with
police officer badge number 860221) viciously beat her several dozen times. Li had to be carried
back to the cell. One afternoon, Gao Zhihua came to ask Li about her family members' names. Li stood up and let her
see the injuries. Dark bruises were visible from the waist down, all along the outside of both legs.
Gao Zhihua said, "These injuries are nothing! The beatings are much more severe in the Masanjia
Forced Labor Camp." One day, the prosecutors came to interrogate Li, and Li showed them the injuries on her body. Li
Xianhua from the Political Security Section of the Shuangta District Police Department rebutted,
"Why didn't you crawl out from under the chain? They didn't beat you hard enough!" 10. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Sun Runsheng from Dalian City Is
Taken to the Yaojia Detention Center Falun Dafa practitioner Sun Runsheng, 61 years old, is from Dalian City, Liaoning Province. He
has been held in custody numerous times for appealing on behalf of Falun Gong and for distributing
leaflets. Each time, he was able to get out of detention with his righteous belief and righteous
thoughts. In the most recent case, he had been held for over three months and was then illegally
sent to a forced labor camp. During the physical examination, he thwarted the evil persecution by
maintaining a righteous mind. He was released on "parole for medical treatment." His
elderly wife was also released from the forced labor camp on "parole for medical
treatment." In March 2002, he and his wife went out to post leaflets and were captured by violent police
officers. Mr. Sun firmly refused to cooperate and was able to walk away. His wife was sent to the
forced labor camp again. The authorities were not able to bring Mr. Sun in, and absurdly decided to
extend his forced labor "reeducation" term to be served off site. Mr. Sun has not been
intimidated at all. When he went out to post leaflets on July 10, he was again caught by violent
police officers. He has been held in the Yaojia Detention Center for over four months. A warrant has
been issued by the court. His wife was released on July 20 as a result of maintaining firm righteous
thoughts. 11. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Zhang Xin Is Sent to the Yaojia
Detention Center by the Taoyuan Street Police Station Falun Dafa practitioner Zhang Xin, 22 years old, lives on Qingyun Street in Zhongshan District,
Dalian City, Liaoning Province. He was taken away from his home by officers from the Taoyuan Street
Police Station in mid-November, 2002. He is currently being held in the Yaojia Detention Center. 12. [Mulan County, Heilongjiang Province] The County Police Department Arrests Nine Falun Dafa
Practitioners Nine Falun Dafa practitioners in Mulan County, Heilongjiang Province have been arrested by the
Mulan County Police Department. They are: Yang Yuqin (female), Qi Jingfang (female), Tian Ying
(female), Mei Guangli (female), Sun Lizhi (female), Li Yanping (female), Liu Xicheng, Liu Bo, and Li
Weijun. They have been sent to the Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp and the Wanjia Forced Labor Camp in
Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. Yang Yuqin is over 60 years old, and was at home taking care of
her elderly paralyzed husband when she was arrested. 13. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] The Police Arrest Falun Dafa Practitioner Shao Benying
from the Shuangta District Falun Dafa practitioner Shao Benying from the Shaungta District in Chaoyang City, Liaoning
Province was arrested by the Chaoyang Police Department on November 7, 2002. He is currently held in
the Chaoyang No. 1 Detention Center. It is said that he mailed the recent article "Righteous
Thoughts" by the founder of Falun Gong, in a letter sent to a relative in a far away place. The
letter was intercepted and traced to him, which resulted in his being kidnapped. 14. [Kunming City, Yunnan Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Wang Tianxue Is Held in Custody at
the Kunming City No. 2 Detention Center Falun Dafa Practitioner Wang Tianxue is being held at the Kunming City No. 2 Detention Center.
