(Clearwisdom.net) According to a Mingpao report on December 20,
2002, a survey revealed that 80% of the surveyed journalists expressed their
view that should the Hong Kong government pass the proposed Article 23,
freedom of press and speech would be affected.
Hong Kong Journalists Association interviewed over 630 journalists in their
survey, and 60% of those interviewed claim that there is no need for the
enactment of Article 23 of the Basic Law, and 80% believe that should the
enactment be passed, it would affect the freedom of press and speech in Hong
Kong.
70% of the interviewees expressed the view that the government should have
published the "White Bill" first, then the "Blue Bill" after consultation with
the general public.
