(Clearwisdom.net) To safeguard the dignity of Falun Dafa, to vindicate citizens' legal rights endowed by the constitution, many practitioners have poured toward Beijing's Tiananmen Square to appeal for Falun Gong, one stepping into the breach as another fell, all risking their lives. For this reason, a great many of practitioners have been illegally arrested and sent to detention centers, even forced labor camps and prisons.

The first group of practitioners sent to the Jixi Forced Labor Camp included: Yang Cuiyu, Yang Xiaoguang, Li Hongwei, Zhang Yutang, Dong Zhiguo, Jiang Honglu, Zhao Bin, Sun Risheng, Wang Yu, Wang Xueshing, Gong Zhijun, Cheng Zhongqiang, Shi Xiaochun, Xing Defu, and Xing Delu, altogether 15 people. A while later, some police forcefully searched for and confiscated our Dafa materials. They continuously beat and abused us.

On March 17, 2000, the director of the labor camp, Wang Yanjun, the political commissar, Wang Hongwu, and the head of the bodyguard squad, Fan Guoyu, led over 20 policemen to drive us out of our cells using wolf-teeth clubs. They forced us to bring our bags and other personal belongings and stand in a row outside the cells. They forced us to unbutton our clothes, take off our shoes and socks and stand in the "body-folding" position [standing with two legs straight and close,bending the head down as far as it will go toward the feet, in front of the knees. The fingers point to the ground, the head is upside down, making the body form a 90-degree angle. The victim is forced to keep this position for many hours]. They searched us and used batons to beat us one by one. The political commissar, Wang Hongwu chopped at our necks with his hand. Some took the bedding apart. They searched for over an hour and punished us by making us stand for more than 3 hours before letting us back into our cells. On days of heavy snow, they forced us to stand outside in an "army corps" posture for more than 2 hours each time. They dragged some of us out of the row and forced them to stand in the "body-folding" position. The warden, Huang Yelin, laughed cruelly as he watched from inside the building.

Once when we were forced to walk outside, Li Hongwei requested to use the toilet. Policeman Ju Hua refused him permission. At dinner, Ju Hua, in an outburst of anger, he pulled Li Hongwei down to the ground and savagely beat him. He grabbed Li's rice bowl and struck him on the head. He did this until the bowl shattered. Another time, during brainwashing, Li Hongwei and Yang Xiaoguang refused to answer the questions asked in a "test" paper, so the squad leader had them beaten. Li and Yang both received serious injuries as a result.

Physical punishment is even more common. Sometimes, we are not allowed to go to bed till the later half of the night. On November 11, 2000, Jixi Forced Labor Camp invited a few traitors organized by the Heilongjiang Provincial Bureau of Forced Labor Education including the Harbin Wanjia Forced Labor Camp to come to harass us. Four practitioners stood up to prevent them from attacking Dafa. Carrying wolf-teeth clubs, more than 10 policemen came to drag the four practitioners (Yang Xiaoguang, Zhang Yutang, Wang Xueshi, Dai Jun) out to the hallway. Once they grabbed hold of them, they beat them with fists and batons and kicked them terribly. Wang Xueshi was beaten so badly he lost his eyesight. The other three practitioners were also beaten very badly and received bloodied eyes, noses and mouths. Zhang's teeth were broken. Afterwards they were locked up in small cells [The detainee is locked up in a very small cell individually. The guards handcuff practitioners on their back in a fixed position, in which the practitioners can neither move nor lie down. The small cell is very damp and dark. Detainees have to urinate and defecate in the cell. Only half-rations are served to detainees locked up in a small cell during the daytime. During the night rats run around. The stench in the small cell is suffocating]. The political commissar Wang Hongwu and Fan Chunling, the director of the department of Education of the Provincial 610 office [a bureau specifically created by the Chinese government to persecute Falun Gong. It has absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary branches] were also in attendance. This is the reality of Jixi Forced Labor Camp.

On January 8, 2001, Fan Guoyu beat Zhang Yutang for practicing Falun Gong. Fan also stirred up the cellmates to hate Zhang. But Zhang Yutang exposed his scheme. Later, all cellmates were very indignant at Fan Guoyu and condemned him in private.

On February 27, 2001, the police once again forced us to condemn Dafa. Since we would not give in, the head of the bodyguard squad, Fan Guoyu, policeman Lin Lijun and the head of the locus, Chen Zhen, called on Zhang Yutang, Yang Xiaoguang to the discipline chamber and used batons to beat them in turns for nearly one hour. They then put shackles on them and locked them into small cells for 70 days before sending them back with the others.

Police and criminal inmates often beat practitioner Hou Jintao. And as a result, became mentally disordered. Later, he was locked up in a small cell. The jail doctor then gave him an injection of some nerve-destroying drug.

The political commissar also used criminals Cui Jianguo and Xiao Yingjun to beat Hou. Once, policeman Liu Gui instigated the above-mentioned criminals to pour cold water on Hou while insulting him. Xiao even forced Hou Jingtao to curse our Teacher. If he did not curse, they punched and kicked him.

In the middle of June 2001, Wang Shixiang, Wang Lansheng and Yang Xiaoguang were locked into small cells by the policemen for practicing Falun Gong. Among them, Wang Shixiang was already 62 years old. Held in the small cells, they were force-fed salt water through tubes inserted throught their noses. Their noses were broken due to the forced feeding. Wang was locked in a small cell for over a month. During this time, Wang Lansheng and Yang went on a hunger strike. On June 28, 2001, Zhang Yutang requested the cellblock head to release Yang and Wang unconditionally. The cellblock head turned down his request and had him locked up in a small cell. They tied him on the bed and force-fed him, as a result, his nose bled and he lost control of his bowels and bladder. The three practitioners had been locked in small cells for 4 full months. Earlier in October, 2001, because Yang Xiaoguang exposed the case that Huang Yelin beat Falun Gong practitioners without any reason, to Zou Xianbao, the vice director of the Provincial Department of Public Security, he was once again severely punished. He was beaten three times by policemen and then tied to a wooden bed (there are hoops on the bed). The policemen used a one-inch wide plastic tube to lash him and then poured two pails of cold water into his nostrils. The shock nearly killed him.

The above facts are the truth of the persecution that we have encountered in the forced-labor camp.
