Since Jiang's brutal repression of Falun Gong in China, Liaoning Dabei Prison has become the regional headquarters for persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. Most of the practitioners jailed here are coordinators of assistant centers in different regions of Liaoning Province. Male practitioners are illegally detained in Dabei Prison No. 2 while female practitioners are detained in Liaoning Women's Prison. They are enduring tremendous suffering from various types of physical and mental torture.

1. The Male Prison

Since March of 2000, practitioners have been transferred from different regional detention centers to different brigades of Prison No. 2. The penitentiary agents here make practitioners run through a gauntlet of criminals and frequently organize rallies to insult practitioners in public. Li Xiangming from Tieling was frequently attacked and verbally abused. If some practitioners practiced the Falun Gong exercises, inmates would immediately beat and kick them until they were black and blue all over. Zhou Xinqi, the Hulu Island coordinato, was shocked by electric batons all over his body by prison guards in turn simply because he kept practicing Falun Gong exercises. Li Shangsi of Panjin was taken many times to Masanjia Labor Camp to receive many rounds of brainwashing from collaborators, [former practitioners who were unable to bear the brutal brainwashing and turned against Dafa] however his staunch belief in Falun Dafa never wavered. Benxi Assistant Center coordinator Jiang Hulin kept clarifying the truth to people in any evil environment, steadfastly safe-guarding Dafa. Intending to break his will, prison guards made him do the workload that is usually assigned to two workers on an assembly line, and if he could not keep up with the demand, they would make criminals beat him. The squad chief Li Jianguo frequently insulted him. These prison guards made them do heavy labor during daytime and tried to brainwash them at nighttime under the disguise of personal chats to confuse them mentally and lessen their sleep, hoping to weaken their resolve. However, all of these attempts were in vain. Wang Zhicheng of Changtu Township, Tieling City was at first illegally jailed in North Masanjia Labor Camp. He was forced to do heavy labor and to dig trenches with blisters and cracks all over his feet and hands. The evil guards encouraged inmates to beat and kick him. Several months later when his relatives visited, they could not recognize him because of the bruises that covered him. Fan Ming of Tiefa and Big Eyes (nickname) of Anshan City were always happy and smiling no matter how brutal the torture was, which was a serious deterrent to the evil. Lao Li (nickname) of Hulu Island was more than 60 years old. No matter how hard the evil agents tried to force him to give up Dafa, he always answered, "Steadfastly practice Falun Dafa without the slightest deviation." They are such a kind-hearted group of people, good husbands, good sons, and good employees. These kind people have suffered tremendously for more than 2 years under intense pressure and brutal torture in jail.

On New Year's Day of 2001, when Yu Fengsheng, Liaoning Provincial Judiciary Minister, came to the jail for a work visit in order to see firsthand the "progress of the brainwashing work," the jail house chief Zhang and brigade chief Li Jianguo forced practitioners to speak at the meeting and report a false "brainwashing rate." They claimed to the outside world that Li Shangsi had been "brainwashed," while the fact was that Li Shangsi's speech at the meeting was all about how good Falun Dafa is and telling people "Falun Dafa is good." At that time, however, Yu Fengsheng immediately tried to prevent him from speaking. The fabricated tricks of Jiang and Luo's gang had come to such a ridiculous point! Anybody can clearly see that the transformation rates they made public are all false. Lately, those detained practitioners refused food and water from the prison to protest their illegal detention. After brainwashed practitioners Jin Yunfu and Wang Zicheng truly understood the truth of Falun Gong, they were not moved by a promise to reduce their detention terms for one year. They made public their statements proclaiming invalid all that they had said and done that were harmful to Dafa, which was a severe blow to the evil. Provincial ministry and prison officials were shocked and frightened, and they all blamed each other. Consequently their "transformation results" were zero. Currently, they have already transferred practitioners to different brigades. When Li Xiangming's relatives were visiting him, they saw that his face was all swollen, and his nose was broken as the result of being force-fed with tubes when he was on hunger strike.

Currently, prison administration personnel are escalating their efforts to torture practitioners. We appeal to all kind-hearted people of the world to offer help and support.

2. Female Prison

Gao Qiuju, coordinator of Dalian Assistant Center, is illegally jailed in Liaoning Women's Prison. In the summer of 2000, when collaborator Yin Houmei, who was forcefully brainwashed, was trying to brainwash Gao Qiuju, Gao went on a hunger strike to protest. Later on the prison staff would no longer mention any brainwash matters. At the end of year 2000, the prison staff were planning to arrange collaborators to brainwash Gao Qiuju, but ended up canceling, saying that anyone who wanted to contact her must apply for permission from the Central Government. This clearly shows how scared they were of Gao. Li Jing of Xingcheng was hung up for more than one month and beaten during her illegal detention in a local detention center. Practitioner Li Ling was tortured to the brink of mental collapse, yet they were still trying to force her to betray Dafa, and blocked all news about Li Ling's torture. Practitioner Liu Guimin of Tieling was brutally tortured with electric batons. The women's prison is called "Ningna Clothing Company" to the general public. Falun Gong practitioners are forced to do heavy labor work beyond their physical abilities, often far past midnight. Practitioner Wang Caiyun was often bullied when she could not fulfill the quota. Practitioner Yin Li was doing work using heavy machinery with blisters, cuts, and cracks all over her hands that looked simply horrible. Some time ago, the prison sent an agent to Yin Li's hometown of Tieling to investigate if she had any history of mental illness, and her relatives said, "Before she went to your prison, she was in perfect condition." From this alone, you can imagine how badly the prison guards had tortured her. The Women's Prison not only tortured them physically, but also mentally abused and brainwashed them with fabricated information, slander and verbal abuse. Practitioners are forbidden to talk to each other, and they do not even know that other practitioners are also detained there. They are completely isolated from outside world. Those among the illegally detained practitioners are Li Jianwu and Rong Fang of Anshan City. When 9 practitioners from Masanjia Labor Camp were secretly transferred to Liaoning Dabei Prison Hospital to be force-fed. The staff there claimed, "What we do to you is actually pretty nice. We treated Falun Gong practitioners who were on hunger strike in Dabei Prison even worse." Now the world can see how brutal the persecution is in this Chinese province.
