The Persecution of Falun Dafa Practitioners in Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province
(Clearwisdom.Net) Kou Weixiang, is a 43 year old female and a resident of Yonghong District,
Jiamusi City. On December 19, 2000, she went to Beijing to peacefully appeal for
an end to the persecution of Falun Gong. She was then arrested. The Heilongjiang
Province Liaison Office in Beijing confiscated 280 Yuan [Approximately 2
weeks salary for an average urban worker] and brought her back to Jiamusi.
Her family had to pay 1500 Yuan for the officers "travel costs". In
addition the Yonghong Police Station fined her 2000 Yuan and they then forced
her to give 500 Yuan directly to police officer Shi Xiuwen and 200 Yuan to
officer Guo Weishan. She also had to pay 50 Yuan for the police officers
"cell phone costs". Her family paid 200 Yuan to Xia and the director
of the police station for the cell phone fee and they also paid 200 Yuan to
cover "meal costs". Altogether, she paid 5200 Yuan, which is
approximately 10 months salary. On September 19, 2001, female practitioners Hong Shuxiang, was illegally
arrested by the police officers of the Yonghong Police Station for no apparent
reason. They extorted 6000 Yuan from her and detained her for eight and a half
days. The person responsible for her arrest was Shi Xiuwen. Cui Shuzhen, a 57 year old woman, is a worker from Jiamusi Textile Factory.
She was arrested by Qianjin District Police Station while practicing the Falun
Gong exercises in a park. They detained her for 15 days and deducted 300 Yuan
from her to cover "meal costs". In October 2000, she was detained on
her way to Beijing to peacefully appeal for an end to the persecution against
Falun Gong. The Shanhaiguan police team detained her for two days and fined her
300 Yuan. Her work unit brought her back and sent her to a detention center. Her
work unit also extorted 1500 Yuan from her as their travel cost and decreased
her retirement salary from 430 to 180 Yuan per month. (To date, they owe her
3420 Yuan.) Yonghong Police Station extorted 10000 Yuan from her. Kong Qingdong, male, 46 years old, is a resident of Yonghong District,
Jiamusi City. On December 19, 2000, he went to Beijing to reveal the truth about
the persecution of Falun Dafa. Because he refused to tell the police his name
and address, they asked him to kneel down. He refused and therefore three
policemen started to punch and kick him. They beat him to the ground and then
two police officers held his hands and stood on his legs to force him to kneel
down. The police took turns to beat him until midnight. This beating caused his
legs to become bruised all over, his blood pressure rose and his heart rate was
high. In order to avoid responsibility for what they had done, they sent him on
a train that was going to the south with only 300 Yuan, although they knew that
he is a northeasterner and that it would be extremely difficult to get back
home. Yang Shujuan, female, 65 years old, is a worker from the Jiamusi Textile
Factory. She was illegally detained for 16 days. Her work unit extorted 1000
Yuan from her, stopped her retirement salary and only gave her 180 Yuan per
month for her living expenses. On May 22, 2000, she was detained again for
making Falun Dafa materials. She went on a hunger strike in the detention center
and for this she had her hands and feet shackled to the floor. They then sent
her to a forced labor camp. The people who were responsible for her persecution
were: Leng Zhanyi, the factory's Party secretary, Wang Deshun, the director of
the factory's security section and Shi Xiuwen from Yonghong Police Station. Han Xiuchun, female, 40 years old, worked as a nurse at the hospital for the
Jiamusi Paper Industry. They illegally sent her to the Jiamusi Detention Center
after she went to Beijing to peacefully appeal for an end to the persecution
against Falun Gong. In order to protest against the unreasonable detention, she
went on a hunger strike. They released her unconditionally after 15 days. Xing Guirong, female, 36 years old, worked in the Jiamusi City government. In
November 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal. The police at Tiananmen Square
beat her and broke her nose. In the Jiamusi Office in Beijing, she went on a
hunger strike to protest. She was detained with 20 other people in a 100 square
foot cell for three days. They extorted 600 Yuan from her and Li Ming from the
local police station in Beijing extorted 1000 Yuan from her. The Yonghong Police
Station and her family brought her back home. In total she paid nearly 10,000
Yuan. The people who were responsible for the torture included: the director of
the Jiamusi Labor Camp Police Station Wang Tiejun and Vice Director Peng. On July 27, 2000, she rode a motorcycle to the labor camp to clarify the
truth. The police arrested her and tortured her with various means, such as
electrically shocking her with electric batons, using the "tiger
chair", hanging her from high places with handcuffs, etc. [for a detailed

Her arms turned black and blue, the cuffs cut deeply into her flesh and she was
unable to move her wrists. They tortured her all day and all night long and they
would beat her head with a water bottle if she lowered her head. They later sent
her to a detention center. In order to protest against the illegal detention and
the torture, she went on a hunger strike for 17 days and was released only after
her whole body went into spasm and her life was in danger. The perpetrators
extorted 5000 Yuan from her family members. To make matters worse the forced
labor camp confiscated her new motorcycle, which was worth 3500 Yuan. A few days
after she came home, the police came to arrest her again therefore she sent
forth righteous thoughts and escaped. She is now homeless and her home telephone
is being monitored. The police tried to follow her husband in order to catch her
and her work unit dismissed her because she persisted in practicing Falun Dafa.
She now has no income. Huang Yajun, female, 38 years old, worked in Heilongjiang Longdian Company.
In December 2000, she went to Beijing to peacefully appeal for an end to the
persecution. She was locked in a cell, which contained more than ten people and
had only two beds. She was also forced to pay 30 Yuan for the room and 20 Yuan
for the food. She was illegally detained for almost three months. A person in
Qianjin Police Station extorted 5000 Yuan from her family for her release. The
"610" Office [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun
Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all
other political and judiciary systems] involved her colleagues in the
persecution by fining them 100 Yuan each and they also fined her work unit 5000
Yuan because of her appeal. Lu Xiuyun, female, 47 years old, is a resident of Yonghong District, Jiamusi
City. On February 11, 2001, she was arrested on her way to Beijing and was
detained at Shanheiguan Railroad Police Station. Police Ma Jinrong viciously
punched and kicked her causing her head to bleed heavily. He took 70 Yuan from
her and she also had to pay 200 Yuan to the railway company. Her work unit took
her back home and charged her for the travel cost. Che Hongyu, female, 36 years old, worked in the First Jiamusi Construction
Company. She went to Beijing to peacefully appeal in June 2000 and was
consequently arrested. The province's Beijing office fined her 100 Yuan and sent
her back to the Jiamusi Detention Center. They detained her for 41 days and
fined her 2500 Yuan. They also fined her work unit 3000 Yuan and charged her 300
Yuan for her food. They also took 720 Yuan from her retirement fund. Zhang Guohai, male, 31 years old, worked in the east region of the Jiamusi
railway company. On October 6, 2000, he went to Beijing to peacefully appeal and
was illegally detained for more than 80 days in the Jiamusi Detention Center.
While he was detained there they extorted 2300 Yuan from him. In the detention
center, the inmates often beat and cursed him for no reason. The inmates also
brutally force-fed him when he went on a hunger strike to protest against his
detainment. The leaders of the Detention Center asked the inmates to watch the
practitioners to prevent them from practicing the exercises. He contracted
scabies in the prison because of the crowded and damp environment. The police
only released him after the family paid more than 10,000 Yuan to Chen Wanyou
from the city's police department. In April 2001, he was illegally arrested by
Wanbaoshan Village Police Station in Baoqing County and detained for 3 days.
They were planning on sending him to a forced labor camp. However, he is on
probation because of his poor health condition. Ma Guiyun, female, 43 years old, worked in the Jiamusi Second Printing
Factory. She was arrested on her way to Beijing to peacefully appeal on December
16, 2000. They detained her in Changchun for one day and sent her to the Jiamusi
Detention Center. She was detained for 17 days and 5000 Yuan was extorted from
her by police officers, Shi Xiuwen and Guo Weishan. She had to pay 150 Yuan to
the detention center for her food. Wang Wenhua, female, 37 years old, was a teacher at the Jiamusi Railroad
Third High School. On July 20, 1999, she went to Beijing to peacefully appeal.
The police attempted to arrest her because she told her students the truth of
Falun Dafa. She was forced to become homeless for 5 months. Her residency
committee and the local police searched her house many times and took all of her
Falun Dafa books, exercises tapes, articles etc. Her husband and child become
very scared upon hearing the knocks on the door and are living in constant fear.
She was then dismissed from her job. She was detained twice and had to pay 900
Yuan for meal costs. The office asked her work unit to pay 2000 Yuan as a fine.
