In Northeast China, an 86-year-old woman has happily practiced Falun Dafa for four years. She has experienced the miracles of Dafa. Before she began the practice, she was illiterate. The elderly practitioner also had health problems - cerebral thrombosis, heart disease, cataracts and other chronic diseases. But after she practiced Falun Dafa, she was able to read the Falun Dafa books, and all her illnesses disappeared. She told everybody, "I am so fortunate to learn Falun Dafa, Falun Dafa saved me." February 12 is the designated "Falun Dafa Day" in that city. The practitioners worked hard with the preparations especially in creating the truth-clarifying banners. This elderly practitioner was as skilled as the young practitioners in making the banners. She sewed more than one hundred small sandbags that were to be used to hang the banners. She was very conscientious with every stitch and worked throughout the night. The elderly practitioner's pure heart touched every Falun Dafa practitioner there.

In September 2001, a city in Jilin Province planned to illegally arrest Falun Dafa practitioners again and to "re-educate" them in labor camps. They had previously sent practitioners to brainwashing classes, but their efforts were unsuccessful due to Falun Dafa practitioners' righteous thoughts. Under the effects of Falun Dafa practitioners' powerful righteous thoughts, the policemen did not dare to arrest the practitioners at their homes. They were afraid that such an arrest would cause many Falun Dafa practitioners to go to Beijing to appeal. So, all the police stations decided to wait until they could arrest the practitioners on the spot or during a truth-clarifying activity. On September 6, an elderly female practitioner was arrested for smearing a slogan that slandered Falun Dafa. She was pressed down on the ground by a group of people dressed in black. This practitioner resisted and at the same time she shouted, "These bandits are abducting people!" One of the people roared, "Don't shout! We are policemen!" In this way, she was grabbed, pulled and carried by seven or eight thugs into the vehicle. Her body was covered with bruises.

When the elderly practitioner arrived at the police station, she firmly refused to cooperate with the evil. She sent forth righteous thoughts throughout the night and practiced the five sets of exercises. On the same evening, the Falun Dafa practitioners who received the news sent forth righteous thoughts together and helped this practitioner to eradicate all the evil in the police station. On the following day, two practitioners went to the police station to appeal for the release of this practitioner, but the police refused to release her. Then, these two practitioners in the police station and other Falun Dafa practitioners sent forth righteous thoughts to eradicate the evil behind the vicious policemen. After about 15 minutes, only one of the practitioners was left in the room. The other practitioner went outside. With his bare hands, he opened the window of the cell in which the elderly practitioner was detained. The reinforcing steel bar used to protect the window bent in his hand like it was made of rubber. The fellow practitioner was saved!

On March 7, 2002, there were police stationed on the streets and at the entrance of Jianshan District People's Court. They prevented Falun Dafa practitioners and the relatives of Pan Xingfu from attending the court session. The people who passed by were told not to stop in front of the Court House. On the gate of the court, a sign read, "There is a meeting today, no official business will be handled." The seats in the courtroom were assigned to specific individuals. Every person entering the court had an admission ticket already issued to him or her prior to the trial. Therefore, the so-called open trial was simply staged. Because the relatives were not given any tickets, only the practitioner's brother and his mother entered the courtroom. His wife and child were not allowed in. The court did not pronounce the judgment at the trial, giving the notice that the verdict would be announced seven days later.

On the eve of February 28, 2002, Falun Dafa practitioners, Ren Huaizhi and Zhang Shuyun (female), were illegally abducted by the Public Security Bureau while clarifying the truth about Falun Dafa near a factory. Now, the police have informed their relatives that these two Falun Dafa practitioners would be sentenced to forced labor. We hope that Falun Dafa practitioners can send forth righteous thoughts to eradicate the evil.

Since July 20, 1999, the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners in Tiefa City worsened. 10 people were sentenced to jail, 23 people were sentenced to forced labor. Shan Guiqin (female) was sent to the female prison in Shenyang City. After she was diagnosed as having heart disease and high blood pressure, she was sent back. The police in the public security bureau did not stop the persecution and had Shan Guiqin checked at another hospital. The examination confirmed the same results. However, the police still did not give up. They wanted to send her to Dabei Prison for further persecution.

A company document of the Liaoning Tiefa Coal Company states that Falun Gong practitioners cannot be considered for a salary raise (Human Resource document dated 2002, Document 41, Article 11). This is yet more evidence of Jiang Zemin's order to persecute Falun Gong practitioners through all means, including "mentally break down and physically destroy practitioners, and cut off their economic resources."

Recently, special agents from the Tianshui City Police Department and the Tianshui National Security Department obtained telephone numbers from detained practitioners and used them to deceive other practitioners in Gansu Province. They fabricated announcements of a "Fa Conference," "Experience Sharing Meeting," invitations "to pick up new truth-clarifying materials" and arrested many practitioners. In some cases, many practitioners from the same area were trapped and arrested.

Based on information from trusted insiders, these special agents are plotting to arrest Lanzhou City practitioners. Gansu practitioners, please send forth the righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil.

Yumen City practitioners Zhang Xusheng and He Nie, a married couple, were abducted by police on the morning of February 29, 2002. Their house was ransacked. The police took away a tape player, a computer, a VCR, cassettes and other materials.

Yumen Practitioner Liang Mengyue was abducted on February 28, 2002. Wang Yongchang, Jia Xiu'e and Zhou Shufang were all arrested and their houses ransacked on February 30 and 31.

The director of the Political Security Section of Longxi County Police Department, Song Jianhua, spotted Falun Dafa practitioner Bi Yujie in a small restaurant. Bi Yujie has been forced to be away from home for nearly a year due to the persecution. Song arrested Bi Yujie and detained him in the County Detention Center. To protest the illegal persecution, Bi Yujie has been on a hunger and water strike. His life is in critical condition.

A female practitioner from Lanzhou City, who is about 70 years old, was arrested on February 14. She was distributing truth clarifying materials in Junjiawan and was arrested by policemen from the Junjiawan Police Station. Her whereabouts are still unknown.

Two practitioners from the Yitong County Social Security Company were illegally sent to a forced labor camp because they persisted in practicing Falun Gong. Last October, they were released from the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp. They talked to their former managers many times regarding their right to go back to work, but the leaders of the company decided that the practitioners must first write a "guarantee letter" stating that they will no longer practice Falun Dafa. The practitioners immediately refused the request and pointed out that this was a wrong decision. They also clarified the truth about Falun Gong to the company leadership and urged them to think about their own future and not aid the evil in the persecution. However, the leaders wouldn't listen to them and stubbornly maintained their wrong decision. These two practitioners have had no income for over one year. We suggest that overseas practitioners phone the management of the Yitong County Social Security Company to clarify the truth to them.

The brainwashing class for Dingxing County is in Liyuzhuang Township. Practitioners detained in the brainwashing class were abducted or otherwise deceived into attending by their local town authorities. The local town governments told the practitioners that they received the order from higher level authorities to enforce the policy that all practitioners must be forced to give up Falun Dafa. To this end, practitioners are cruelly tortured in the brainwashing class.

The brainwashing class requires everyone to pay 1,000Yuan for living expenses and the "brainwashing fee" [500 Yuan is the average monthly salary of a Chinese urban worker]. Director Li Ping and Vice Director Li Aijun have about ten "guards" who are off-duty soldiers. Their bosses told the guards that only if they "perform well" in the brainwashing class would they be assigned a permanent job. Therefore the guards use all kinds of cruel methods to torture the practitioners, telling them that they are following instructions from higher authorities.

Starting from September 2001, the class began by keeping practitioners under strict surveillance. Every day, they were forced to watch video programs slandering Dafa. Next, they were forced to do rigorous physical training and hold difficult positions. The guards used different excuses to administer physical punishment, saying that they would break the practitioners physically and then brainwash them. In the evening, practitioners were forced to watch the news and then comment on what they saw. It was stipulated that everyone must stand still without even turning their head, or the guards would beat up anyone they wanted to. One practitioner refused to recite the fourth of the so-called rules of the class. She was handcuffed and left hanging in the air for 3 hours and was then tied to a wooden board for several nights. After one practitioner walked out of the class, the guards used rubber batons, wooden sticks and electric batons to beat and shock the remaining practitioners that night. Several local people reported that they heard miserable screaming in the night, which woke them up and distressed them greatly.

On September 26, when several more practitioners were brought to the brainwashing class, practitioner Ma Shuhui called out, "Falun Dafa is good! Restore the good reputation of our Teacher!" She was immediately beaten unconscious, whereupon the guards poured cold water on her to wake her up and continued the beating. She had wounds all over her body, and her blood, skin, and clothes stuck together. She was injured so severely that she was sent for emergency rescue at the hospital. She eventually experienced a mental breakdown from the extreme inhuman treatment. Practitioner Lu Yuhui was beaten to such an extent that her leg was broken and she was crippled for over a month. Her finger was also broken. The guards took away her overcoat and put handcuffs and shackles on her. They tied her to a wooden board in the cold weather for half a month. Practitioner Geng Jinzhu was beaten even harder. The guards had said, "Geng Jinzhu is good. We'll strike him with more than one thousand rubber batons and with whips of iron chain." Guards would point to the house-load of torture devices and say to the practitioners, "These are for you." Director Li Ping yelled to the practitioners, "I am a demon, and this is the demon's den!" When upper-level leaders and reporters would come to inspect the premises, the severely injured practitioners were hidden in the back yard and Li Ping would threaten the others with, "If anyone of you leak the tortures to the outsiders, you know the result and how hard we will punish you." When a newly detained practitioner arrives, they are put in handcuffs and shackles from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and not allowed to use the toilet. Some have to relieve themselves in their trousers.

In the brainwashing class, the evildoers use any and all methods to force practitioners to give up practicing Falun Dafa. If practitioners run too slowly during the exercises they are beaten, and those who can't hold difficult positions during the physical training are beaten. When calling out instructions during the training routine, the guards deliberately change the speed of the chant making it suddenly faster and suddenly slower, and practitioners who miss the speed of the instructions are beaten. This makes it even more difficult for the injured practitioners to follow the instructions. The practitioners' families are forbidden to visit. Some practitioners cannot bear the mental and physical tortures and end up writing the "promise letter" against their wills.

Police in Fuping County detained and extorted money from Dafa practitioners using various excuses. Family members of the Dafa practitioners were told to bring a sum of money varying between 5,000 Yuan to 10,000 Yuan if they wanted the practitioners to be released. Otherwise, the practitioners would be detained indefinitely. The vicious people also demanded bribes. According to partial statistics, over 400,000 Yuan have been extorted from the family members of Dafa practitioners, most of which has been pocketed.

In Fuping County there are many people who are too poor to support their own families, and it is a central area for an aid-the-poor program in China. However, vicious people are still stealing the shirts of their backs. This is proof of the notorious policy to "cut off financial sources" of Falun Gong practitioners by Jiang's criminal group.

The Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp is a base established by Luo Gan personally for the purpose of persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. Many Dafa practitioners who are considered as being "steadfast" are being detained there. The police often interrogate, beat and torture Falun Gong practitioners at night. Yang Zeming, a team director, and Wang, a female team director, are very brutal. Many practitioners were handcuffed and fettered before they were tortured by shocks from electronic prods. Some vicious policemen even poured tea or water on Dafa practitioners before the shocks. They shocked practitioners' mouth, face, hands, feet as well as other parts of their bodies. Some police shocked them with telephone wires. Nan Binyu is an elderly woman. Two of her teeth fell out because of the shocks. Because she didn't yield to the evil, she was handcuffed and detained in a cold room for about 6 days during the bitter winter. She almost froze to death.

Some practitioners regret that they wrote statements of "guarantee" while under pressure. When they tried to take back the statements, they were forced to do dirty, heavy work, such as picking up the garbage and repairing the highway, for more than ten hours without rest. In the scorching heat during the summer, they were forced to remove wild grass while facing the sun, and were abused whenever they stopped for a rest. The food they were provided with was steamed cabbage and carrots every day. In order to fulfill their tasks of "reforming" Dafa practitioners given to them by the authorities, the policemen beat practitioners brutally. A female team director named Zhou Haiyan asked every practitioner to curse at Teacher. If they refused, she ordered them to be beaten, saying, "You'll sleep in the bathroom if you don't curse your Teacher."

On March 6, during the "Falun Dafa Day" in Jinchang City, police on duty discovered five Dafa practitioners putting up Dafa banners. Two of the practitioners were captured on the spot. The other three who didn't leave Jinchang City were later captured at home.

The five practitioners are: Qin Dewu, An, Ma Zhigang, Yang Xiaochuan, and Ma Yaofeng.

One day after Yongchang Dafa practitioners finished clarifying the truth, a group of police was dispatched to surround their homes. Seven practitioners were captured that day. The details are unclear at this time.

Since the funeral of practitioner Xiao Jingsong and "Jilin City Falun Dafa Day" preceding the Spring Festival, Jilin City Public Security Bureau, the "610 Office" (an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems) and the Security Bureau have worked furiously together to arrest Falun Dafa practitioners. In early February, the Hadawan Police Substation in Jilin City, Changyi District illegally kidnapped Shao Yuwen from home at midnight. Led by Zhang Shoubin, the policemen severely tortured her and interrogated her regarding the source of truth-clarification materials. She firmly refused to co-operate. The next day she was sent to a forced labor camp. Several days later she was illegally sentenced for one year forced labor along with two other practitioners.

This police substation hired some local thugs to persecute Falun Dafa practitioners. These thugs frequently ambushed and ransacked Falun Dafa practitioners' homes, searching for material, and finally arresting them. They pried open the doors and broke the locks, harassed the practitioners and seriously disturbed their regular daily lives. Some practitioners were forced to leave their homes and live on the street.

When Clearwisdom Net publicly posted the list of the Xitiangezhuang Police Substation policemen involved in persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners a few days ago, the substation heightened its persecutory measures. They looked for every chance to take revenge on the practitioners. Practitioner Zheng Bolin from Xitiangezhuang County, Donggezhuang Village was arrested on March 4 for no reason. We hope those that read this news item will send out righteous thoughts to eradicate the evil.
