New York Practitioners Hold Information Seminar for UN NGOs in Manhattan (Photos)
On March 1, New York Practitioners held a lunch reception and offered an
information seminar for UN NGOs in midtown Manhattan. The purpose of the seminar
was to provide them with the information about the Jiang regime's persecution of
Falun Gong on the occasion of the fifty-eighth session of the Commission on
Human Rights that will convene from March 18 to April 26 in the United Nations
Office at Geneva (UNOG).
Practitioner Levi Browde, who went to appeal for Falun Gong on Tiananmen
Square in February, presided over the seminar. Award-winning (including the
National News Emmy Award) veteran international investigative journalist Danny
Schechter briefed the attendees about the situation of persecuted Falun Gong
practitioners and the book he wrote, "Falun Gong's Challenge to China."
A documentary film by the same name directed by Mr. Schechter was shown
afterward. Mr. Schechter then answered questions from the audience.
Another practitioner who also went to Tiananmen to appeal, Scott Chinn,
talked about the brutal beatings he and his wife had suffered on Tiananmen
Square.
NGO representatives talked to practitioners informally during the reception
and gathered ample information on the current situation of the persecution in
China.
