1. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Hunger Strike Statement by 23 Falun Gong
Practitioners Detained at the Wujiabaozi Forced Labor Camp
We are Falun Gong practitioners who are being illegally detained at the
brainwashing class in Wujiabaozi Forced Labor Camp by the Fushun Municipal
Political and Judiciary Committee. We, the 23 determined Dafa practitioners
started a hunger strike on February 7, 2002 to oppose the injustice and the
persecution towards us. What kind of crime is it to cultivate
"Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance?" We strongly request
unconditional release, return to us our personal freedom as well as our
freedom of belief! Most of us are 50-60 year old women. Most of us were forcefully kidnapped,
sent here, and locked in cells without sunlight all day long. We are under
24-hour--a-day surveillance. We call on international human right groups to
uphold justice for us. We call on all kind-hearted people to condemn such
severe human rights violations. Falun Gong practitioners from Shenzhen express their highest admiration to
the western practitioners who went to Beijing Tiananmen to peacefully appeal
for Falun Gong. Your arrival made all evil terror-stricken. We got the news that recently western practitioners continuously come to
China and walk up to Tiananmen to peacefully appeal for Falun Gong, to oppose
the Jiang's regime's brutal persecution of Falun Gong. This has given us great
encouragement and strength. You come to this deceit-flooded country which is
cruelly governed by a tyrant. You use your own experiences to validate that
Falun Dafa is a lofty, virtuous Fa that can raise the moral standards of human
beings and let all become compassionate. You are able to give up everything to go to Tiananmen, which shows that you

express our highest admiration to you. Dafa practitioners from Shenzhen. February 20, 2002 The unlawful 610 office [a bureau specifically created by the Chinese
government to persecute Falun Gong. It has absolute power over each level of
administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary
branches] in Jilin City printed a large number of "Reward" notices
and distributed them to all vendors and people who have lost jobs. They attempt
to use money to lure those poor people and some local ruffians to capture
practitioners who post Dafa truth-clarifying materials. 4. [Jilin Province] The Sound of "Falun Dafa Is Good" Broadcast
from a Loudspeaker in a Village Around midnight on December 27, 2002, villagers from Jilin Province suddenly
heard the resounding voice from a loudspeaker: "Falun Dafa is good!"
"Falun Dafa is righteous!" "Return the innocence to Falun
Dafa!" The resonant voice was heard from far and wide in the silent
village. Some villagers saw 5-6 motorcycles lead by a car displaying a banner
"Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance." The next day, every family in
the village received a set of Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials. Villagers
all said: "Falun Gong is really extraordinary!" 5. [Yushu City, Jilin Province] Before Spring Begins Police Illegally Arrest
Many Falun Gong Practitioners At midnight on February 3, 2002, police and public security directors from
the towns of Sihe and Xinzhuang in Yushu City coordinated the massive arrests of
Dafa practitioners from every village in these two towns. The police illegally
arrested practitioners through means such as: searching for every family
according to their blacklist, watching for practitioners at certain sites, and
secretly patrolling along major roads. That night, some practitioners who were
clarifying the truth outside were arrested without warning. The next morning,
the list included Sihe practitioners: Lu Xianfeng and Yan Shijun couple;
Qingshan practitioners: Jiao Shoutong and Jiao Chuanfu; Yujia practitioner: Zhu
Hongliang. The authorities also illegal arrested practitioners in Yushu City. Three
practitioners from Yushu City were also arrested (they have not been
identified). At the time that this news was sent, 7 practitioners from among
them were sent to Changchun Heizuizi and Chaoyanggou Detention Centers. 6. [Panjin, Liaoning Province] Practitioner Xiao Zhijun Who was Recently
Released is Once Again Arrested and Sentenced to Forced Labor Education by
Panjin Police Shortly after practitioner Xiao Zhijun was released from the Panjin Forced
Labor Camp where he had been illegally detained, he was once again arrested when
the police learned that he visited another practitioner. He is now illegally
sentenced to 3 years of forced labor education by the Panjin Forced Labor Camp.
Xiao Zhijun is being illegally detained at the Panjin Forced Labor Camp in
Liaoning Province. 7. [Yushu, Jilin Province] Police from Municipal Political and Security
Section Extort Money from Falun Gong Practitioners' Families In 2001, a local female practitioner was illegally arrested. Police Zhou XX
from the political and security section attempted to send her to forced labor
camp or reeducation. Police Zhou told her brother: "You have to pay 2,000
yuan [about 4 months' salary for an average urban worker] as a gift
before we can release her." One week after the brother paid the fee, the
practitioner's daughter went to pick up her mother. Zhou said that they had to
pay 3,000 yuan as a fine. They borrowed 3,000 yuan and gave it to Zhou. At that
time, Zhou was the only policeman in the office and he did not give them a
receipt. During the illegally detention, the daughter sent 7 articles of
clothing to her mother, but all were withheld. The mother had not received any
of them. Fifteen days later, the practitioner was released from the detention center.
When she learned of the extortion, she went to the police station and told the
Director Su about it. Su said: "If this is true, we will deal with
Zhou." But immediately afterwards, they called this practitioner's brother
and daughters and threatened them with loss of their jobs, saying that their
families would be affected. Due to the pressure, the practitioner's brother and
daughters dared not bear witness, and instead put pressure on the practitioner. 8. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Police Torture Falun Dafa Practitioner
Lou Yan On February 2, 2002, police from Anshan City Songsan Police Station suddenly
broke into Dafa practitioner Luo Yan's home. They illegally beat and arrested
her and confiscated her property. In the police station, they inhumanely
tortured her. In an attempt to prove Lou healthy to send her to Anshan Labor
Camp, police officer Li Shengzhong falsified a physical exam certificate. In
fact, the police had tortured Lou. They finally sent Lou to Anshan First
Detention Center and continued the torture. 9. [China] Police Illegally Arrest Falun Dafa Practitioners and Extort Money
Before the Chinese New Year At 8:30 p.m. on February 4, 2002, five police from a village in the Northeast
area suddenly broke into a practitioner's house and illegally searched her home.
The practitioner refused to be searched. They cursed her. When she tried to take
the Falun Dafa books back, a police director slapped her twice in the face. Two
police came up and twisted her arms behind her. Her arms still hurt. Many
villagers witnessed the act. They said that police nowadays are like bandits who
arrest people for ransom. The police grabbed all the Falun Dafa books, discs,
Teacher's picture, and materials from Minghui.Net as well as several "Falun
Dafa is Good" banners. The police took her away leaving her baby daughter
at home. They asked for 5,000 Yuan for her release. Not having this kind of
money, her family was forced to borrow from several relatives and friends. The
police took the money without giving a receipt and released her. This all
happened during the local "Falun Dafa Week." According to reliable
information from inside the police department, an order had been issued that
each policeman was to arrest one Falun Gong practitioner. 10. [Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province] The Police Illegally Send Several
Falun Dafa Practitioners to Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp Recently, Hegang City Police Department illegally sent these three female
Falun Dafa practitioners to Jiamusi Labor Camp for three years; Ho Yuxin, Lu
Miao, and Le Yuhua. On the morning of January 9, 2002, Gongnong District Police Department Xinnan
Police Station kidnapped practitioner Tan Yanjun from his house. He is now in
Hegang First Detention Center. Recently, the police kidnapped practitioner Huang
Shisheng. His whereabouts are unknown. On January 10, 2002, the police illegally arrested practitioners Ma Yingquan
and Guan Guidong. 11. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Shuncheng District Police Department
Persecute Falun Dafa Practitioners Recently police arrested nearly one thousand practitioners in Fushun City.
The responsible parties are: the head of the police department, police Hao
shifu, police Zhao and Xu, section chief Yu (arround 40 years old), police Long
at Xinhua Police Station. They refused to release practitioners whose lives were
in danger from a hunger strike lasting over thirty days. They sent the
practitioners to the iron cages in the hospital and tried to further persecute
Falun Dafa practitioners by announcing that they had died at the hospital while
being treated. 12. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Dai Chunmei and
Zhang Yajing Illegally Detained at Heizuizi Female Prison On November 4, 2001, the police arrested practitioners Dai Chunmei and Zhang
Yajing while they were posting Falun Dafa material. They were first detained in
Shuangyang Prison and then sent to Changchun Heizuizi Female Prison. They called
Zhang's father to come from Shanghai to persuade her to obey. The family said
that before entering they were asked to curse Falun Dafa; otherwise they would
not be allowed to visit. Recently, four more practitioners were arrested because
they distributed Dafa material. 13. [Beijing] Dafa Assistant Wang Bi Is Illegally Sentenced to Eight Years in
Prison Wang Bi was an assistant at a Falun Dafa practice site at the Beijing
Aviation and Aerospace University. She went home to Fuzhou at the end of 2000
and was arrested and detained while clarifying the truth of Falun Dafa at her
old university. Recently we heard that they illegally sentenced her to eight
years in Fuzhou Prison. Wang had been tirelessly clarifying the truth of Dafa
persecution everywhere she went. Her family said that she was very firm in
prison and that is why she was sentenced to a term as long as eight years. 14. [Tieling City, Liaoning Province] Female Falun Dafa Practitioners Jin
Shuzi and Li Yuqin Illegally Sent to Forced Labor Camp On February 20, 2002, Tieling practitioners Jin Shuzi and Li Yuqin were
arrested while distributing Falun Dafa material in a village. Jin had been
illegally sentenced to two years in a labor camp in 1999 for appealing in
Beijing four times. Her younger brother Jin Yupu has been illegally detained at
Liaoning Dabei Prison for two years and four months. In order to resist the
persecution, her sister-in-law jumped from the fourth floor and broke her hip
and right leg. Li has been illegally sentenced to one year in a labor camp for
appealing in Beijing five times. Li's daughter and son also were illegally sent
to a labor camp. Her son-in-law was forced to become homeless. We call upon all
kind people in the world to pay attention to this matter. Responsible people: Sun Lizhong, Yang Dongsheng 86-410-4848790 15. [Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province] Extortion of Dafa Practitioner Duan
Xiuping's Family Member On Nov.1, 2000, Dafa practitioners including Duan Xiuping from Aoqi township,
Jiamusi City were arrested for going to Tiananmen Square to appeal and were
brought back home to a local prison on Nov.6, 2000. Duan has three children; the
youngest is 5 years old. The township officials frequently went to Duan's home to ask for money. The
township secretary said by giving 1,000 Yuan, they could visit Duan, and by
submitting another 5,000 Yuan as cash deposit, Duan could be released. So Duan's
husband Wang Yehe borrowed 6,000 Yuan and visited Duan on December 20, 2000. On
subsequent visits, Wang brought their children but they were never allowed to
see Duan. Then Wang and his children went to the prison with the township
secretary from his village but were still refused. The secretary said some gifts
had to be sent. But after they sent the gifts, Sui, the head of the prison,
retired, so Wang had to go to the Internal Guarding Section (IGS) in the suburbs
to ask for Duan's release. When the IGS asked for more money, Wang said he
already paid the cash deposit to the township and showed the receipt. IGS then
called the township to ask for the money, but the township refused. Then IGS
said: "You've submitted the money to the wrong place; you must now pay
another 5,000 Yuan." Wang managed to borrow the first 6,000 Yuan using his
crops for the next three years as collateral. Now making a living is already
really hard; how could he find another 5,000 Yuan?! Since he was eager to gain
his wife's release, Wang spent 200 more Yuan courting the proper authorities to
secure his wife's release. Later Duan was sent to a labor camp where visiting is
prohibited. So Wang went back and forth between the town and the city to ask for
the return of the cash deposit. A kindhearted person told Wang he should say a
large, tall, man told him his money should be returned to him. They returned the
money in installments. Over the course of a year he has spent more than 3,000
Yuan on transportation, treating the township leaders, etc. In 2002, Wang Yehe went three times to the 610 Office to ask for Duan's
release. The first time 610 office let him to talk to the suburban office; the
second time they let him to talk to the labor camp authorities; and the third
time Wang brought a list of all 132 families' signatures from his village asking
for Duan's release. The 610 office then said they would consider the issue. But
the 610 office asked the village and township for a guarantee before release.
Since the township leader Liu Yi refused, the 610 office refused to release
Duan. She remains jailed in the labor camp. In the past year, Wang Yehe has lost his land, his time spent trying to
secure Duan's release and the cash deposit paid when he didn't have an income.
Wang received no consideration from the government officials of his children who
lost their mother. What the officials did do was ask for money, more money, and
after they got the money, refused to release Duan, and they didn't want to
return the cash deposit. Dafa practitioners have showed their concern for Wang's
family by bringing them clothes, money, food, etc. Wang says he has felt the

Practitioners During the Spring Festival Making use of those "reformed practitioners," some officials in
Gaomi city arrested a lot of Dafa practitioners and sent them to brainwashing
class and claimed that if not transformed, they would be sent to labor camps. At
the same time, they set up many check points to search passengers' luggage at
will in order to find Dafa materials. Under the pretext of doing household
registration for every family in the city, they were all the while trying to
find where Dafa materials were made. All the Dafa practitioners in Gaomi, please
send forth righteous thoughts together to eliminate the evil elements behind

"Clarify the truth thoroughly, eliminate the evil with righteous thoughts,
save all beings, and safeguard the Fa with determination ..." (Dafa is
