Township Council of Township of East Hanover, New Jersey Again Passes Resolution Condemning the Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners, (March 11, 2002)

(Clearwisdom.net) On March 11, 2002, Mayor and township council of the Township of East Hanover once again passed a resolution condemning the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China and expressing their support for Falun Gong.

According to the resolution, the Chinese regime's actions against Falun Gong practitioners represent a severe example of the crushing of human rights and civil liberties that is to be condemned. The Council gave their full support to those who follow the peaceful example of Falun Gong members. The resolution further condemned the harsh, brutal and repressive practices of the Chinese (Jiang's) Government against Falun Gong practitioners, and called for all Falun Gong prisoners be freed by the Government.

 

Below is the text of the resolution:

Resolution # 51 -- 2002

Whereas, Falun Gong is considered to be a form of spiritual exercise that draws energy to the body in order to maintain health and a peaceful approach to life; and

Whereas, the United States government is now on record as "deeply disturbed" by reports that China has further intensified its harsh repression of Falun Gong adherents (practitioners); and

Whereas, this (last) summer thousands of Falun Gong supporters have marched through the Atlantic States on their way to Washington in order to protest the Chinese (Jiang Zemin's) Government's brutal and systematic persecution of Falun Gong Followers; and

Whereas, the Chinese (Jiang Zemin's) Government's actions against Falun Gong practitioners represent a severe example of the crushing of Human rights and civil liberties that is to be condemned.

Now Therefore, Be It Resolved By The Township Council of The Township of East Hanover, New Jersey, That it is the sense and purpose of this Council that full support be given to those who follow the peaceful example of Falun Gong members, and further that harsh, brutal and repressive practices of the Chinese (Jiang Zemin's) Government against Falun Gong followers (practitioners) be condemned, and that all Falun Gong prisoners be freed by the Government.
