WHEREAS Falun Dafa practitioners are joyously celebrating the 10^th anniversary of Falun Dafa's introduction to the public on May 13, 2002, with festivals and events to be held across Canada and worldwide; and

WHEREAS Falun Dafa is a traditional meditation practice of body, mind and spirit which emphasizes the assimilation of the universal principles of "Truth-Compassion-Forbearance; and

WHEREAS Falun Dafa has benefited our neighborhoods and the whole society by helping over 100 million practitioners worldwide improve their physical and mental health, improve their moral standard and deepen their understanding of life, humanity and the universe; and

WHEREAS Falun Dafa's contribution to society has been widely recognized and honored around the world since Mr. Li Hongzhi introduced it to the public in 1992: and

WHEREAS Falun Dafa transcends cultural and racial boundaries and contributes to the universal dream of a peaceful, tolerant, and more compassionate society; and

WHEREAS Falun Dafa practitioners' determination and courage to stand up for Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance under the most severe environment reminds us of the value of life and the preciousness of human dignity;

NOW THEREFORE I, Jerry Oglow, Mayor of the City of Armstrong, do hereby proclaim the month of May 2002, as

"Falun Dafa Month Honoring Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance"

in the City of Armstrong
