"Future Science Forum" Held at University of Toronto on May 19, 2002

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioners held a "Future Science Forum" at University of Toronto on May 19, 2002. Four scientists in different research fields from different countries were invited to give their presentations at the forum. They were: Feng Lili, an expert in immunology from Baylor College of Medicine, U.S.A.; Professor Zhou Shiyu, Ph.D., from the University of Pennsylvania, U.S.A.; He Mai from New Jersey Medical School, U.S.A.; and Hu Naiwen, Ph.D., a famous doctor of traditional Chinese medicine from Taiwan.

In her speech, Professor Feng Lili introduced her latest research achievement and quoted other research from famous sources such as the scientific journals "Nature" and "Science." She described and analyzed how Falun Dafa, as a mind and body practice, produced miraculous effects in increasing resistance to aging, increasing longevity and enhancing the body's immune system. Her speech attracted wide attention among the participants. Many people talked to her after the speech, asking questions or asking for the related articles.

Hu Naiwen, Ph.D. from Taiwan, discussed, based on the history and practice of traditional Chinese medicine, with the participants in the forum on how to break through the "bottleneck" of modern medical science and modern medical treatment to initiate a new direction in medical research.

Professor Zhou Shiyu from the University of Pennsylvania, was awarded the NSF CAREER Award (2000) (Note: this is the National Science Foundation's most prestigious award for young faculty - the Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award). From the viewpoints of multiple fields, such as the Science of Nature, world culture and history, he discussed and probed into the mysteries of time-space, supernormal abilities of the human body and prophesies.

He Mai, a Ph.D. from New Jersey Medical School, summarized "The Report on the 1998 Health Surveys Conducted on Falun Gong Practitioners in China." He pointed out that the health surveys were the most systematic medical surveys conducted on Falun Gong practitioners to date. The surveys concluded that Falun Dafa had provided significant health and fitness benefits to more than 98% of its practitioners.

Nearly 200 people from different fields participated in the forum. They asked many questions and showed strong interest in the topics of the forum. Several people among the audience previously only knew a little about Falun Gong . After being inspired by such brilliant speeches given from various angles and the perspective of different fields, they decided to start practicing Falun Dafa. A reporter who came to the forum said she had often reported on the activities of Falun Gong such as the appeals and protests against the persecution of Falun Gong, but today's science forum gave her a fresh and deep impression.
