Promoting Dafa in Cape Town, a Historic City in South Africa

(Clearwisdom.net) Cape Town was the first city to be built by Europeans in South Africa. On April 13, 2002, Cape Town celebrated the Art of Life Festival. After a practitioner and I heard about the festival, we quickly put together materials explaining the practice of Falun Dafa and how it has grown around the world. Since we had booked space for our activities in advance, with the assistance of an organizer and a new European practitioner, we set up our display area at the east side of the building.

As we were setting up our display, people started coming into the City Hall. When they saw us, some were curious, saying they had never seen Falun Gong before, and some enquired where they could find a practice site, when the classes would begin and so on. I gave them information about our practice site and handed out Falun Dafa materials. When it was not too busy, I demonstrated the five sets of exercises. The Festival lasted for two days and there were a lot of participants. Among the tourists was a person from Europe that bought a copy of Falun Gong [Introductory text to the practice of Falun Dafa].

I have to attribute the success of this promotional activity to cooperation amongst practitioners. I received all the materials including newspapers, flyers and photos from practitioners in other countries. I distributed the materials to tourists and Chinese people in Cape Town. Through this, I exposed the evil persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners in China and suppressed its possible attempts to poison people in Cape Town.

On May 17, I went to the Chinese Embassy to clarify the truth about Falun Dafa. I took some Chinese Falun Dafa newspapers, journals and English flyers with me. When I arrived, I sent righteous thoughts and cleared the evil elements in the surroundings first. I then handed out flyers to the Chinese people in and around the embassy as well as local people living in the area. I told them how Falun Dafa is recognized, respected and welcomed by different governments and their citizens. A woman from Tianjin and her Taiwanese husband expressed their understanding of and support for Falun Dafa. I truly felt the great sense of responsibility and honor of being a Dafa practitioner.
