My View on Satellite Tapping By Man Tuntun (meaning "a slow man")
(Clearwisdom.net) After reading the Jiang regime's ever-escalating rhetoric against Falun
Gong, and on the other hand, Falun Gong's praise of the TV tapping and playing truth clarification
as an action of justice, I want to say some words of my own. The Jiang regime is well known for its slander of Falun Gong, why does it talk about this
satellite tapping? According to me, there are several reasons for this: First, it's because of pressure. Most likely, lately Falun Gong has not only widely used cable TV
tapping, they probably have also tried the technology of satellite tapping, which has made covering
up such news very difficult in China. The authorities could no longer hide these facts, so they had to reveal them and make it known to
the public. Before, they claimed that the "self-immolation" and "anthrax letter"
were done by Falun Gong practitioners. They will continue to try to incite hatred for Falun Gong. Second, the influence of satellite tapping is too great. If the Chinese government can create an
international voice against Falun Gong so it won't be able to do it in the future, then the
information blockade in China and their policy to keep people in the dark will be able to last a
little longer. People around the world know that Falun Gong practitioners in Changchun City tapped into a cable
TV system and played some programs, but most likely there are many similar cases that have not yet
been reported. A Falun Gong website says, "This is in fact returning the media, a tool of the
public, to the people, and returning the right to know the information deprived by a dictator to the
people. Such action is not only upholding their own right to speech and beliefs, in fact, at the
same time when they uphold their own right to speech and beliefs, they are also upholding all
Chinese people's rights to speech and beliefs, which is also upholding the Chinese constitution and
international treaties, which acknowledge these rights." From these words, we can see that Falun Gong will continue to use this method to get their
message across, but Jiang's regime is most afraid of the truth being exposed. Falun Gong is
continually "clarifying the truth" on an increasingly larger scale. Xinhua Net's report
about the Xin'nuo No. 1 Satellite is an attempt to stop this from happening. Third, using the law to create a difficult environment for overseas Falun Gong. On the Chinese New Year's Day this year, a friend told me that all associate officials at Chinese
consulates abroad were called back to China to attend a special meeting. They brought back two
assignments with them: 1. Reinforce their infiltration of Falun Gong abroad, and 2. Use the law to
create difficulties for overseas Falun Gong. We see that the case of "street obstruction"
in Hong Kong has not yet finished, and the report of the Xin'nuo No. 1 Satellite is already on
stage. The report especially mentions that it was done by "Overseas Falun Gong." Although
devoid of any evidence, the report still directly aims at Falun Gong abroad. Fourth, the Chinese government wants to find an excuse to destroy Falun Gong in Hong Kong and get rid
of a nuisance brought about by the policy of "one nation, two systems." According to Hong Kong's Mingbao July 10 report, after the Chinese communications
satellite was interrupted by Falun Gong signals, Hong Kong became a target area where the mainland
police department investigated the source of satellite tapping. The Hong Kong police also
participated in the investigation. Furthermore, Hong Kong police charged Falun Gong practitioners who sat peacefully outside the
Chinese liaison office in Hong Kong. They also barred entry for Falun Gong practitioners coming to
peacefully appeal. Xinhua Net published a headline report on July 8 that used many inflammatory words to stir up
people's emotions. This report calls Falun Gong "uncivilized," "illegal,"
"against international treaties," "terrorist" and other things. Don't they
remember the fiasco of their trying to pin the "anthrax letters" on Falun Gong? Didn't
they lose a lot of face over that? This time, will their accusations of "terrorism" really
make it hard for overseas Falun Gong? The people at Xinhua are probably not so sure themselves. The
countries abroad advocate freedom of speech, so what will the result be? I, Man Tuntun, shall wait
and see. Posting date: 7/14/2002
