A Woman, Zhen Wenqin and a Man, Shang Guangshen, Tortured to Death in the Hands of Lawless Police in Zhaoyuan County, Heilongjiang Province

Female Dafa practitioner Zhen Wenqin was an accountant at the Art Troupe of Zhaoyuan County, Daqing City. On May 11, 2002, Zhen Wenqin and practitioner Feng Jinbo were kidnapped by vicious police and sent to Sartu District Police Department. After these two practitioners were hung and tortured in handcuffs for three days of interrogation, the Politics and Security Division of Zhaoyuan County Police Department took them to a local detention center. Four days later, they were transferred to Zhaoyuan County Detention Center. Ms. Zhen held a hunger strike from the very beginning to protest the illegal treatment. Three days after she was transferred to the detention center, Ms. Zhen was tortured to death by force-feeding. When Ms. Zhen was on the verge of death, Zhaoyuan County Detention Center notified her family and her work unit, but police did not allow her family to see her until all rescue efforts failed and she had passed away. It was not until one hour after Ms. Zhen's death that the police allowed her family to see the body. There were many purple bruises on her body and the autopsy report claimed she "died from a lack of oxygen." When her family condemned the detention center for torturing Ms. Zhen to death, which was evident by the bruises on her body, officials there said they did not beat her, that she had in fact been beaten at Sartu District Police Department in Daqing City.

Zhen Wenqin's family refused to sign the cremation consent form and insisted on a legal investigation. However, the police cremated Ms. Zhen's body, having her work unit sign the consent form.

Male Dafa practitioner Shang Guangshen was kidnapped and sent to a brainwashing class in early 2002 by the Politics and Security Division of Zhaoyuan County Police Department. His health declined drastically there as a result of brutal torture. He began to foam at the mouth and later, to spit blood. He was on the verge of death, yet the police still wouldn't release him. Shang Guangshen was not released until his work unit and people who accompanied him signed several forms guaranteeing Mr. Shang would not go to Beijing again to appeal. Three days after he returned home, Shang Guangshen passed away.
