Persecution of Falun Dafa Practitioners in Xingtang County, Hebei Province

Falun Dafa practitioner Yang Rongmei, female, 45 years old, from East Qixingfeng Village of Xingtang County, has been illegally imprisoned at Xingtang County Detention Center for nearly two years. On February 1, 2002, she was brutally beaten at the detention center by L Guofa, police officer from the Politics Protection Unit, and police officers Han Guoliang and Guo Shujie. Her left leg was almost broken, and for a long time she was unable to walk. There is word that she may be sentenced to five years without proper legal recourse.

Falun Dafa practitioner Fan Yuzhu, female, 52 years old, from Fanjiazuo Village of Xingtang County, was imprisoned at the Xingtang County Detention Center for several months before she was unlawfully sentenced at the end of May 2002 to three years in a labor camp. Shijiazhuang Labor Camp refused to take her, due to the fact that she did not pass the health exam. In the middle of June, she was taken to neighboring Lingshou County, to be imprisoned at the detention center there.

Falun Dafa practitioner Mo Zhenli, male, 33 years old, from Qinhuangdao City, works at the Qinhuangdao Sea Transport Company. His hometown is Shunzhao Village, in Xingtang County. He was arrested in the middle of April 2002, and has been imprisoned ever since at the Xingtang County Detention Center.

Falun Dafa practitioner Shen Guoxing (pronunciation only), male, 34 years old, works at the Xingtang County Mechanical Factory. He had stopped practicing Falun Dafa, and after regretting the decision, he started practicing again. He was arrested when he went to Beijing to appeal, and was unlawfully sentenced to two years time in labor camp in the middle of June. He is currently imprisoned at the Shijiazhuang Labor Camp.

Falun Dafa practitioner Yang Fuxian, male, 38 years old, is from Mingbu Village in Xingtang County, and has been illegally detained at the Xingtang County Detention Center for several months. Towards the end of May, he was unlawfully sentenced to two years in the forced labor camp. He was sent to Shijiazhuang Labor Camp, but due to the fact that he did not pass the health exam, he was taken back to Xingtang County Detention Center, where he is still being detained.
