Zhang Fangliang, Former Deputy Head of Rongchang County, Chongqing City, Is Tortured to Death (Photos)


(Clearwisdom.net) Dafa practitioner Zhang Fangliang was a 47-year-old deputy head and a native of Guangshun Town, Rongchang County, Chongqing City, Sichuan Province. He was an honest and well-respected official. áIn October 2001, he was illegally arrested for distributing Falun Gong truth-clarifying literature and was tortured to death on July 9, 2002.

As a Dafa practitioner who truly cultivated "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance," Zhang Fangliang never accepted bribes or took advantage of perks such as free meals as many others did. His integrity and upright conduct were highly respected by his colleagues and the people of Rongchang.

In October 2001, Zhang went to Tongliang County to attend a meeting. In his spare time, he distributed Falun Gong truth-clarifying literature and was arrested for doing so. Later, when Rongchang County authorities ransacked his home, they found that he did not have much savings and was clearly a "clean" government official. After being sent to a detention center, and then a brainwashing class in Chongqing City, Zhang Fangliang still persisted in cultivating "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." He was later transferred to Xishanping Forced Labor Camp, where he was tortured to death in less than six months. In early July 2002, Zhang Fangliang was cremated. One eyewitness said that his body was too emaciated to be easily identified.
