On the afternoon of August 3, 2002, Falun Gong practitioners from the Toronto area held activities outside the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office and the Chinese Consulate to call for putting an end to the Jiang regime's sham trial of the Falun Gong practitioners.

Several English and Chinese media outlets including City TV and the Central News Agency interviewed practitioners on site and reported the activities in their respective programs.

This is an important matter that is tied to Hong Kong's future. Everyone who is concerned with Hong Kong's democracy and freedom should stand up to put an end to this groundless trial and political persecution against Falun Gong practitioners. They should support Hong Kong Falun Gong practitioners' legal rights of freedoms of belief, assembly and speech.

Canadian practitioner Zenon, who had gone to both Tiananmen Square and Hong Kong, said, "It is more appropriate to describe the trial as political persecution, because it is used to go against the law and slander Falun Gong. In fact, the evidence has shown that the Falun Gong practitioners' appeal is justified and peaceful. Hong Kong police's accusations of 'obstructing traffic' and 'assaulting police' are absurd."

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Cao said, "I think both of the accusations are groundless. From the video shot at the scene, Falun Gong practitioners sat peacefully at one corner. It is the police that blocked the traffic. Anyone could tell that this was a false charge, and this is clearly undermining justice." She said that people with a sense of justice should take a stand. One group of people consists of peaceful practitioners who live by "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance," while the other group is the government controlled by the Jiang regime that persecutes these good people.

Ms. Cao continued to say, "Today we gathered in front of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office to appeal to society that while promoting economic cooperation, do not ignore justice and conscience. History will be our judge. Let us work together to stop this groundless persecution and give the people of Hong Kong a bright future."
