Jinan City Practitioners Unlawfully Sentenced to Prison or Labor Camp in Shandong Province

Wang Hongzhang, a 69-year-old man, is a retired engineer from the Jinan Steel
and Iron Factory. He is a volunteer at the Falun Gong Assistance Center in
Licheng District, Jinan City. Before he began practicing Falun Dafa in January
1994, he suffered from a variety of physical ailments. After cultivating Falun
Dafa, he became very healthy, rosy-cheeked, and his gray hair turned black. He
was illegally detained (the detention of Falun Gong practitioners for
practicing their beliefs violates China's own constitution) many times
between July 21, 1999 and October 2000. He was sentenced to three years of labor
camp in October 2000, and has been held in the Jinan City Liuchangshan Labor
Camp. His home phone number is 86-531-8985901 (this is the switch board of the
General Steel and Iron Factory), extension 69656. His house address is Room 201,
West Unit, South 5th Building, 5th division, Jiangxincun,
Jinan City, Shandong Province.
Zhao Guiju, a 68-year-old woman and retired teacher in the Jinan Steel and
Iron Factory, is the wife of Wang Hongzhang. She was illegally detained many
times between July 21, 1999 and October 2000. She was arrested on October 25,
2000 and forced to attend a four-month brainwashing class in Huixianshan,
Licheng District. She was detained in prison during those four months and put in
the brainwashing class because she practiced Falun Gong exercises.
Xue Xiangdong, a 41-year-old man, is a vice Director of the Jinan No.2
Petroleum Factory and a Senior Engineer. He graduated from the Shandong Dongying
Petroleum University. He went to Beijing to appeal in October 2000, and was
illegally detained. In detention he was beaten by the prisoners there. He was
bailed out by his work unit, but was removed from his position. Police illegally
searched his home, and took away a large amount of Falun Gong CDs. Because he
refused to tell the passwords for those CDs, he was brutally beaten by the

Cheng Huiping, a 41-year-old woman and wife of Xue Xiangdong, is a volunteer
in the Falun Dafa Jinan General Assistant Center. She also graduated from
Dongying Petroleum University, and she used to work in the Education Department
of the Jinan No.2 Petroleum Factory. She went to Beijing to appeal in October
2000, and was detained in the Licheng Detention Center for 30 days. Later she
was sent to the Guardian Brainwashing Class in Lixia District. She was detained
in the Jinan City Liuchangshan Labor Camp because she refused to give up her
faith. She was illegally sentenced to 5 years in prison on May 28, 2001 by the
Lixia District Court.
Jing Guixia, a woman around 60 years old, volunteer in the Falun Dafa Jinan
General Assistant Center, and teacher in Jinan College, was illegally detained
many times. She was detained for 30 days in the Licheng Detention Center after
going to Beijing to appeal. She was forced to sit in the hallway of the Licheng
Detention Center for three whole days with hands and legs cuffed. She was
illegally sentenced to three years of labor camp in October 2000. Her son is a
doctor in the Jinan Central Hospital and has also been illegally sentenced to a
labor camp because he practices Falun Dafa.
Zhang Zhigang, a 57-year-old woman and volunteer at the Falun Dafa Jinan
General Assistant Center, used to be the Party Secretary of the Jinan Textile
Department. She went to Beijing to appeal many times, and was detained many
times. In October 2000, she was sentenced to three years of labor camp, and is
currently being held in the Second Division of the Shandong Female Labor Camp in
Jiangshuiquan, Jinan.
Dong Mei, a 39-year-old woman, is an accountant in the Qilu Medicine Factory.
She obtained Dafa in 1996, and was illegally detained and fined 8,000 Yuan [Average
monthly pay of an urban worker is 500 Yuan] one month after she went to
Beijing in January 2000. She was sentenced to three years of labor camp after
she went to Beijing to appeal in October 2000.
Wang Xia, a 38-year-old woman, was an office worker in the Shandong No.2
Power Plant. She went to Beijing to appeal in January 2000, and was detained for
20 days. She was also relieved from her public position without reason. Because
she passed out an article that she wrote called, "My Life," in July
2000, she was sent to one month of detention by her former employer. She was
detained on September 30th, 2000, and was sentenced to three years of
labor camp in October 2000.
Xin Yanhai, a 34-year-old man, is an employee of the Huangtai Power Plant in
Shandong Province. He was illegally detained for 30 days, and fined 8,000 Yuan
with a bail fee of 5,000 Yuan because he exchanged experiences with overseas
Falun Dafa practitioners in January 2000. He was dismissed from his job for half
a year because he refused to write the "Guarantee Statements" (statements
renouncing Falun Gong and promising not to appeal or
associate with other practitioners). He
was detained another 30 days after he went to Beijing to appeal. He was detained
for a third time 30 days after he went to Beijing to appeal again in October
2000. He was also sentenced to three years of labor camp.
Zhao Xia, a 32-year-old woman, is the wife of Xin Yanhai. She was illegally
detained for 30 days after she went to Beijing to appeal on July 4th,
2000. Because she refused to give her name, she was detained for 20 days in
Tianjin City, and another 30 days in Jinan City. She was detained for 30 days in
the Licheng Detention Center starting on September 28th, 2000 because
she passed out truth-clarifying flyers, and she was sentenced to three years of
labor camp in October 2000.
Li Guanglan, a woman around 56 years old, volunteer at a Falun Gong Assistant
Center in Licheng District, Jinan City, and retired employee of Shandong
Department Stores, used to live in the West Dorm of the Jinan Fertilizer
Factory. She went to Beijing with her two daughters Zong Bao (24 years old,
employee of the Jinan Yinzuo Shopping Mall), and Zong Jie (around 38 years old,
employee of the Jinan Fertilizer Factory) to appeal peacefully. All three of
them were illegally sentenced to three years of labor camp. Their home phone

Sun Shengxuan, a 31-year-old man from Guan County, Shandong Province, is a
worker in the Jinan Steel Factory and graduate of a vocational school. He was
illegally sentenced to three years of labor camp in October 2000.
Feng Zhen, a 26-year-old man and worker in the Jinan Steel Factory, was
illegally sentenced to three years of labor camp in October 2000.
Zhan Yinghua, a woman and worker in the Jinan Steel Factory, was illegally
sentenced to three years of labor camp in October 2000.
Zhang Wei, a woman and worker in the Jinan Steel Factory, was illegally
sentenced to three years of labor camp in October 2000.
Fan Kuifen, a woman around 61 years old and a worker in the Jinan Steel
Factory, was detained in the Licheng Detention Center for 30 days, after she
went to Beijing to appeal in October 2000. She was tortured in the Licheng
Huixianshan brainwashing class for 90 days. She was detained for 30 of those 90
days because she shouted, "Falun Dafa is good!" She was illegally
sentenced to three years of labor camp on January 28, 2001 (lunar calendar).
Li Hongying, a woman around 61 years old, is the retired Head Officer in the
Financial Department of the Jinan Steel Factory. She went to Beijing on October
1st, 2000, and was sent to the Licheng Huixianshan brainwashing class
for 90 days. She was held in the Licheng Mental Hospital (located near
Xinxiuchuan Resort) because, during her 90 days, she requested her release. She
was tied to a bed and electrically shocked. She was tortured for 10 days. She
was illegally sentenced to three years of labor camp in January 2001, and later
bailed out for medical treatment.
Yang Ziguo, a man around 50 years old, used to be a salesman in the Jinan
Steel Corporation. He was sent to the Licheng Huixianshan brainwashing class in
October 2000, held in the Licheng Detention Center for 20 days because he
practiced Falun Gong exercises, and illegally sentenced to three years of labor
camp in November 2000.
Liu Ying, a woman around 45 years old and employee of the Jinan Steel
factory, is the wife of Yang Ziguo. She was arrested and brought to the Licheng
Huixianshan brainwashing class, detained for 30 days because she practiced the
exercises, sent to the Licheng Mental Hospital in 2001 where she was tortured,
and later she was illegally sentenced to three years of labor camp.
Li Yuping, a woman around 38 years old, is an accountant in the Jinan Iron
Factory of Jinan Steel Corporation. She went to Beijing many times to appeal.
She was arrested and brought to the Licheng Huixianshan brainwashing class,
detained 30 days because she practiced the exercises, sent to the Licheng Mental
Hospital in January 2001 where she was tortured, and illegally sentenced to
three years of labor camp on the Chinese New Year's Day of 2001.
Zhang Juan, a 32-year-old woman, is a worker in the Jinan No. 2 Petroleum
Factory. She was arrested and brought to the Licheng Huixianshan brainwashing
class for going to Beijing to appeal in October 2000. She was detained for 30
days, sent to the Licheng Huixianshan brainwashing class, detained for another
30 days because she practiced the exercises, and illegally sentenced to three
years of labor camp before the Chinese New Year of 2001.
Shi Xueqin, a 32-year-old woman, is a farmer from Xiaoxinzhuang Village,
Licheng District, Jinan City. She was detained for 30 days in the Licheng
Detention Center because she went to Beijing twice to appeal. She was sentenced
to three years of labor camp in November 2000.
Yao Wei, a 39-year-old woman, is an elementary school teacher in the Jinan
Qilu Medicine Factory School. Before the persecution started, she volunteered to
assist young children in learning Falun Dafa. She was forced to change her job
from teacher to factory worker. She went to Beijing to appeal in October 2000.
She was detained for 10 days in Jinan, fined 5,000 Yuan, and later arrested and
brought to the Licheng Huixianshan brainwashing class for one month of forced
brainwashing.
Ding Shuzhen, a woman around 50 years old and worker in the Jinan No.3 Parts
Factory, lived in the Dorm of Shandong No. 1 Power Plant. She was detained for
30 days in the Licheng Detention Center because she went to Beijing twice to
appeal. She was also illegally sentenced to three years of labor camp in
November 2000.
Sun Lianzhi, a 32-year-old man and employee of the Qilu Audio/Visual Company,
was illegally sentenced to three years of labor camp in November 2000 because he
went to Beijing to appeal. He was held first in the Shandong No.3 labor camp in
Wangcun, Zibo. He was transferred back to the Jinan Liuchangshan Labor Camp.
Wang Shuying, a woman around 52 years old, lives in the dorm of the Jinan
Licheng Bus and Train Factory. She was arrested in January 2001 and brought to
the Licheng Huixianshan brainwashing class for one month because she passed out
flyers. Before the Chinese New Year, she was illegally sentenced to three years
of labor camp because she refused to give up practicing Falun Dafa.
Jia Yu, a woman around 40 years old and worker at the Jinan Paper Factory,
lives near Baihua Park. She went to Beijing to appeal in October 1999. She was
arrested and brought to the Licheng Huixianshan brainwashing class in October
2000. During the forced brainwashing, she was detained for one month in November
2000 because practiced the Falun Dafa exercises and resisted the brainwashing.
At the beginning of 2001, Jia Yu tore down a banner posted on the wall that
slandered Falun Dafa. She was severely beaten by Officer Zhang from the Licheng
Political Security Office. She was illegally sentenced to three years of labor
camp before the Chinese New Year of 2001.
Liu Hongtao, a man around 30 years old and worker at the Jinan No.2 Petroleum
Factory, was illegally sentenced to three years of labor camp in October 2000.
Hu Tinghao, a man around 40 years old and worker in Shandong Huangtai Power
Plant, is a retired soldier who has been awarded third grade honors in the army.
He was detained for 30 days, fined 8,000 Yuan, and forced to pay 5,000 Yuan in
bail because he exchanged experiences with overseas practitioners. Later in
October 2000, he again paid 5,000 Yuan in bail to the local police. In October
2000 he was arrested and brought to the Licheng Huixianshan brainwashing class
where he was brainwashed for four months. He was forced to pay a "tuition
fee" of 13,000 Yuan.
Sheng Lemin is a 31-year-old man, Physics Lab Technician in the Jinan No. 43
Middle School, and a volunteer at the Falun Dafa Assistant Center in the Licheng
Huangtai Power Plant region. Because he went to Beijing on April 25, 1999 to
appeal, and went to the Jinan Provincial Government to appeal on July 21, 1999.
He was illegally detained for five days, had his home searched, was
interrogated, was deprived of sleep for four days and three nights, and was
forced to endure brainwashing. He was fined 5,000 Yuan by the local police,
arrested and brought to the Licheng Huixianshan brainwashing class in October
2000, sent to the Wangcun Labor camp in Zibo, brainwashed for four months, and
forced to pay a "tuition fee" of 13,000 Yuan.
Liu Yuxia, a 31-year-old woman, is a resident of Mengjia Village, Huashan
Town, Jinan Licheng. She was arrested and brought to the Licheng Huixianshan
brainwashing class in October 2000. During the forced brainwashing, she was
detained for one month in November 2000 because she practiced the Falun Dafa
exercises and resisted the brainwashing. She was illegally sentenced to three
years of labor camp before the Chinese New Year of 2001.
Wang Hongmei, a woman around 29 years old, is a resident of Huashan Town,
Jinan Licheng. She was arrested and brought to the Licheng Huixianshan
brainwashing class in October 2000. During the forced brainwashing, she was
detained for one month in November 2000 because she practiced the exercises and
resisted the brainwashing. She was illegally sentenced to three years of labor
camp before the Chinese New Year of 2001.
Li Haixiang, a woman around 50 years old and worker of the Jinan No.2
Petroleum Factory, was arrested and brought to the Licheng Huixianshan
brainwashing class because she went to Beijing to appeal in December 2000. She
was illegally sentenced to three years of labor camp before the Chinese New Year
of 2001.
Xu Jinliang is the manager of the Shandong Province Youth Science and
Cultural Center run by the Shandong Province Young Cadre Management Institute
located in Jinan City on Jingshi Road. He was illegally sentenced to prison with
charges of "illegal publishing."
Wang Yizong, a 61-year-old resident of Yaoqiang Town, Licheng District, used
to work in a department store. He was detained for one month in the Licheng
Detention Center because he went to Beijing to appeal and pass out flyers. He
was also illegally sentenced to three years of labor camp. Because of his
physical condition, the labor camp refused to take him. He was then taken to the
Licheng Huixianshan brainwashing class, where he was later bailed out for
medical treatment.
Tian Jinyun, a woman around 60 years old, is a volunteer at the Falun Dafa
Qilipu group practice site. She was arrested and brought to the Licheng
Huixianshan brainwashing class in October 2000. In January 2001 she was
illegally detained after she went to Beijing to appeal.
Zhang Tianbao, a 31-year-old man, is an accountant in the Jinan Langchao
Corporation. He was dismissed from his job because he refused to write a
"guarantee statement" after July 21, 1999. He went to Beijing to
appeal in October 2000, and was illegally sentenced to three years of labor camp
in November 2000.
Wang Yi, a man around 30 years old and employee of the Jinan Man-made Textile
Factory, was sentenced to three years of labor camp after he went to Beijing to
appeal at the end of 2000.
Li Dong, a man around 30 years old and employee of the Jinan Man-made Textile
Factory, was illegally sentenced to three years of labor camp after he went to
Beijing to appeal at the end of 2000.
Li Haiyan, a woman around 27 years old and worker of the Jinan No. 2 Wool
Textile Factory, was detained in the Licheng Detention Center for one month
because she went to Beijing to appeal in October 2000. Later, she was sentenced
to three years of labor camp. She was forcefully put in shackles for 24 hours
because she requested to do the Falun Gong exercises during her 30 days in the
detention center.
Wang Jing, a woman around 26 years old, graduated from the Hangzhou Chinese
Arts Institute. Although she was at the top of her class, her school did not
assign her a job upon graduation in 1998 because she practiced Falun Dafa. She
had to find her own job and ended up teaching at the Jinan Textile Institute.
She was detained in the Licheng Detention Center for one month because she went
to Beijing to appeal in October 2000. Later, she was sentenced to three years of
labor camp. She lived in the dorm of the Jinan Steel Factory.
Yang Xiulien, a woman around 41 years old, is a farmer of Zhangmatun Village,
Wangsheren Town, Licheng District. She was detained in the Licheng Detention
Center for 30 days after she went to Beijing to appeal in October 2000. She was
tortured in the Licheng Huixianshan brainwashing class at the beginning of
November 2000. She was detained for 30 of her 90 days there because she shouted,
"Falun Dafa is good!" She was illegally sentenced to three years of
labor camp before the Chinese New Year of 2001.
Fan Lei, a man around 30 years old, employee of the Jinan Man-made Textile
Factory, was illegally sentenced to three years of labor camp after she went to
Beijing to appeal at the end of 2000.
Yao Tao, a 35-year-old man, lecturer in the Physics Department of Shandong
University, and Ph.D. candidate (forced to stop taking classes because he
practiced Falun Dafa), was sent to the Licheng Huixianshan brainwashing class in
October 2000. He was detained in the Licheng Detention Center for 30 days
because he practiced Falun Gong exercises, and later was illegally sentenced to
three years of labor camp.
Wu Shikuan, a man around 40 years old from Liuzhuang, is an unemployed worker
from a factory in Jinan. He used to be a liver cancer patient and was
financially very poor, but he became very healthy after practicing Falun Dafa in
1998, and has firmly practiced ever since. He was sent to the Licheng
Huixianshan brainwashing class on October 25, 2000. He was detained in the
Licheng Detention Center for 30 days because he practiced Falun Gong exercises,
and later was sentenced to three years of labor camp. Because a physical check
up found that he was in his final stages of liver cancer, the labor camp refused
to take him. The brainwashing class was afraid that he might die there, so they
sent him home. However, they still locked him up in his local community office.
