Residents of Small Towns around Houston Enthusiastically Learn Falun Gong (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) Along with the rapid progress of the Fa rectification, and through practitioners' clarifying the truth, more and more people learn about the brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China and at the same time become greatly interested in learning Falun Gong.

On September 7, Saturday, Houston practitioners went to Montgomery County Public Library in the Woodlands, a small town near Houston to keep on holding a free Falun Gong introductory workshop. About 30 to 40 local residents came to attend. Some of them read a report about Falun Gong from a local newspaper and came, some learned the news from their relatives or friends. The Falun Gong workshop added a view to the library: Display boards advertising the free class were set up outside the library and the meeting room was filled with local residents eagerly learning Falun Gong.

First, a practitioner and also a professor from Houston Medical Center of Baylor College of Medicine used a computer slide show to introduce the benefits of practicing Falun Gong in improving physical health. From the angle of biology and physiology, she explained the close relationship between human health and the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance. In the end, she also talked about the positive effects of these principles on protecting environment, maintaining ecological balance, and keeping social stability. Local residents expressed that this professor's report let them look at things from a completely new and fresh angle.

Then practitioners played the 8-minute Falun Gong introductory videotape. After watching it, local people learned more about Falun Gong. Before attending, some people were concerned about whether they would be charged for the workshop. Some people called to ask whether we charge fees or not, or whether we offer free classes at the beginning and then charge fees later on. After watching the videotape, they all understood that all of Falun Gong activities are free of charge.

Afterwards, practitioners gave the exercise instructions. Although the meeting room was crowded, local residents learned the exercises very attentively. After practitioners taught one set of exercises, they played Teacher's exercise instruction videotape and let the local people follow the tape to learn it again. This way, in only one and a half hours, they learned all five sets of exercises. After learning the exercises, without knowing why, a westerner could not help shedding tears once she listened to the Falun Gong exercise music.

Local residents sincerely expressed their appreciation to practitioners for holding the free workshop. They wished that a regular practice site could be set up in the local area and thus one after another left their phone numbers so that practitioners would be able to contact them. Some local practitioners said that they were willing to help look for an appropriate place as the regular practice site.
