Internet Cafés in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province, have installed a Meiping application that filters contents. Even if someone browses web pages with sensitive words offline, the application will alert system administrators.

2. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Zhuhai District "610 Office" Confines and Tortures Practitioners Shen Yuanhui and Others in a Metal Shack

The "610 Offices" in the Zhuhai District of Guangzhou City has escalated its persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners. [The "610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.] Many practitioners have been held in custody on the ninth floor of the Heguirong Welfare Facility, some for over two years. Recently, as the persecution has escalated, Falun Dafa practitioners Shen Yuanhui and others were locked in a sheet metal shack on the roof of the building. It was quite hot in Guangzhou City, and the interior of the metal shack was not much different from an oven. On top of that, officials of the "610 Office" ordered several high-pitched speakers to blare noise at the practitioners to disrupt their rest.

Huangpu Drug Rehabilitation Center has also held many Falun Dafa practitioners. The extent of physical punishment there is shocking. Practitioners were tied with ropes and strung up. Some were even suspended upside down with their heads partially submerged in water. Pepper water was smeared on practitioners' faces. They dared not to do these things during the daytime, carrying them out only under the cover of darkness.

3. [Shengli Oil Fields] Practitioner Wang Baoyan of the Geology Institute Is Abducted and Sent to a Brainwashing Class

Wang Baoyan, in his thirties, is a Falun Dafa practitioner and an employee at the Geology Institute in the Shengli Oil Fields. He was abducted at work and sent to a brainwashing class in the Centralized Transportation Division of Oil and Gas.

This practitioner works very hard and is an outstanding expert in his field. He excelled in the exam for candidates to study overseas in Russia. The party secretary of the Geology Institute Wang Yuqian denied his bid to study overseas citing his practice of Falun Gong. The practitioner challenged Wang Yuqian, who then conspired with the "610 Office" to have him abducted and thrown into the brainwashing class.

4. [Mianyang, Sichuan Province] Practitioners Brutally Tortured in the Xinhua Forced Labor Camp

The No.3 Regiment of the No. 6 Brigade in the Xinhua Forced Labor Camp is a "strictly-supervised regiment." Falun Dafa practitioners in the regiment are forced to stand in a military posture for extended periods of time. Everyday, except for mealtime, they are forced to stand from 6:00 or 7:00 am until midnight. Practitioners are even restricted in the use of restrooms. Everyday practitioners are forced to listen to and watch programs slandering Falun Dafa. Determined practitioners have been tied up and shocked by electric batons and beaten with stiff rubber clubs. Practitioner Xu Langzhou was tied up with ropes until his faced turned black just for shouting, "Stop beating the people!"

The No.5 Regiment of the No. 4 Brigade is known as the "Demon's Regiment." Many Falun Dafa practitioners have been transferred here for forced labor. Falun Dafa practitioner Deng Jiangang refused to participate in the forced labor. All at the same time, five or six police in the security team surrounded and attacked him. Deng Jiangang suffered injuries all over his body. Three of his ribs were broken as a result of the beating.

5. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] The Court of Chengdu City Plans to Put Practitioners on Illegal Trial

The Court of Chengdu City is scheduled to conduct illegal trials on September 2, 2002, of several dozen Falun Dafa practitioners, including the following women: Liu Xiaojun Zhao Zhufeng Yang Xiuqing, Li Zhijie , Xiao Shubi , and Zhang Kunxiu .

6. [Guiyang City, Guizhou Province] Theaters Now Showing a Slanderous Movie Similar to Those Seen during the Cultural Revolution

Since last week, movie theaters in Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, have started showing a movie slandering and defaming Falun Dafa. Starting August 31, the Guiyang Evening Newspaper ran the advertisement for this movie three days in a row. The movie is free to the public. Some work units have ordered tickets and freely distributed them to their employees.

7. [Shanghai] Shan Huaihai of the Psychiatric Health Center in Xuhui District Acts as a Political Thug to Frame the Innocent

The World Psychiatric Association (WPA) held a conference from August 24^th through 29^th in Yokohama, Japan. Browsing the abstracts of the conference proceedings, we found that someone named Shan Huaihai was scheduled to make speeches on the afternoons of August 25^th and August 28^th. We examined the content of the speeches, which were solely defamations of Falun Dafa and had nothing to do with science or research. This person did not show up at all at the conference. After the conference concluded, we asked a Chinese scholar about this. The Chinese scholar told us that Shan might have not come to Japan at all. After examining the title of the speech, the scholar was surprised, "What was he writing about?"

Afterwards, we found Shan Huaihai's name among the plaintiffs in a lawsuit that Falun Gong practitioners in New York City filed against China Press. This person had also come to New York City on March 17, 2001, to attend a so-called "exposing and attacking meeting," which was quite popular during the Cultural Revolution, on Falun Gong.
