A County Level Deputy Official's Words: "Falun Dafa Teaches Me Honesty and Justice" (Part 1)

(Clearwisdom.net) I learned Falun Dafa in June 1995, and was originally a Deputy Official at the County level of government. After the evil started to persecute Dafa on July 20, 1999, I lawfully went to the appeals office twice to tell them the benefits I have received from practicing Dafa. However, authorities from the appeals office took me to the appeals office's police station. As a result of being denied my constitutional right to appeal an injustice, I had to go to Tiananmen Square.

On October 6, 2000, the fifth time I went to Beijing, as I was practicing Falun Gong at Tiananmen Square, three police officers came and started to kick and punch me violently. I called out from the bottom of my heart, "Falun Dafa is good!" A police viciously hit my temples and then pushed me to the ground. Even though they kicked me in the mouth and face wearing leather shoes, I continued to call out. While we were being taken in the police car to the Tiananmen Square sub-station and Miyun Detention Centre, one practitioner and I shouted out countless number of times, "Falun Dafa is good!".

The countless number of times I called out "Falun Dafa is good!" reflected my praise and gratefulness to Dafa and Master who gave me a new life. Here, I would like to talk about the improvement of my moral character after practicing Falun Dafa.

I used to be a righteous person who strived for what is good and wonderful but I could not stay clear of the attractions of fame and gain under the influence of society. In 1994, I was diagnosed with severe liver and kidney problems and neither Chinese nor Western medicine had any cure. At that time I was around 30 years old and felt that I had reached the end of my life.

At the beginning of June in 1995, I was fortunate enough to obtain Falun Dafa and felt that I had entered a boundless and wonderful world. Not quite one month after obtaining the Fa, all my illnesses were healed. My heavy legs became unusually light which made me more determined in cultivation.

I started out from being a good person and cultivated my heart according to the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance. I tried my best to rid myself of my attachments and continued to aim towards the realm of selflessness.

At work, I tried my best, according to what Master taught, and avoided doing things which I realized were against the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance. Today, among officials in China, there is practically not one official who is not greedy. Taking bribes has become the normal way of fulfilling one's job. However, I cultivate according to the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance so I held myself to a high standard to be an official who was honest and who represents the interests of the people.

Towards the end of 1997, I headed an inspection team to inspect the chief of police in seven different counties. A few counties offered me "presents" but I refused and told them that I practice Falun Gong and cannot accept such immoral things.

In August 1998, I took part in the City's four-people inspection team to inspect a few officials from city and county governments. Whenever we arrived at a new place, my explanation of why I refused alcohol and would not accept any bribes became the process of promoting Dafa. Around the 10^th day after the inspections started, the team leader said to me, "After listening to you introduce Falun Gong, at first I just thought it is a good system to improve a person's health. But after being with you all this time, I find that Falun Gong is not so simple. Refusing to drink alcohol is hard to do but it is achievable. However, in this environment, to continue to refuse bribes is far too difficult. Some people can refuse bribes on the surface but he might still take it in private, but after observing you all this time I found that you have truly achieved this. This is admirable. You said that this is a "law in the heart"; I think it is true. Falun Gong can truly change a person from the heart. The three of us have just decided to learn from your example and we will not take any bribes in the future." He also said that if it weren't because of the fact that he had to cope with so many connections, he would also practice Falun Gong. (Later, even though he did not cultivate Dafa, he has a very good impression of it and used to praise Dafa in many public events. One section official learned Falun Dafa at that time). From then on, at the places we went to, the three other members of the inspection team truly tried very hard to refuse bribes.

Accepting meal invitations to establish personal connections is very normal in today's society. After cultivating Dafa, I refused to take part in any dinner or lunch events that had a corrupt nature. Once, I was part of the inspection team to inspect a major official from a certain political and law department. He privately invited me to dinner. I refused and later he asked an official from my work place to ask for him. I then explained to this official the reason I refused to go. This official praised my actions and understood Falun Dafa even better.
