On the National Taiwan University Campus, 5,000 Practitioners Light Up Candles For a More Peaceful World
2002-12-29 (Clearwisdom.net) On the night of December 29, in front of the National
Taiwan University Stadium, the Taiwan Falun Dafa Association held a candlelight
vigil entitled "With Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance in Mind, a More
Peaceful World Will Be a Reality." Five thousand Falun Gong practitioners,
mostly from various places in Taiwan, lit up candles in the wind and rain. They
sat quietly to memorialize their fellow practitioners who have been tortured to
death in China. Chang, Ching-his, chairman of the Taiwan Falun Dafa Association, and Wu Hui-Lin,
chairman of the China Human Rights Association, both pointed out in their
speeches that the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners by Jiang's regime is
wrong, and the means used to torture practitioners are inhumane. They called
upon all Taiwan citizens to help stop the persecution. At the vigil, white candles were arranged into three characters:
"Truthfulness, Benevolence, Forbearance." Practitioners hope that with
Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance in mind, the world will become a more
peaceful place. In a solemn, touching scene, practitioners sang songs written by
fellow practitioners together.
