Cases of Persecution Of Dafa Practitioners in Anhui Province

Dafa practitioner Ms. Sun Qirong, who is over fifty years old and a tailor from Nanling Village of Tianjiayan District in Huainan City of Anhui Province, was arrested in August 2002 and kept in the First Detention Center in Huainan City, Anhui Province. Sun Qirong went on a hunger strike to protest this persecution against herself and others who practice Falun Gong. As a result, her hands and feet were tied to a board, which is normally used for convicts who are awaiting execution. Many times the guards pried open her mouth with iron clips to force feed her. As a result all her teeth were broken off. She fainted numerous times, and came close to dying. By the force of justice, the policemen sent Sun Qirong to the hospital, and she is in the process of being rescued.

Female practitioner Zhang Heping, from Hefei City in Anhui Province, was arrested in September 2002. In June this year, the Court of Baohe District in Hefei City illegally sentenced Zhang to 8 years in prison. While being kept in the Hefei City Second Detention Center, Zhang Heping was force-fed. Moreover, she was bound to what is known as the "big plank" (method of torture where the feet and arms and tied onto a board with metal clamps) for over twenty consecutive days. In December 2002, when the First Department of Public Security in Hefei locked Zhang Heping in a hotel, she escaped, with a righteous mind. After half a month, she was again arrested at her home, and encountered the vicious beating of policemen in the First Department. Furthermore her husband did not give up practicing Falun Gong either and he too was illegally sentenced to 3 years in labor camp, and has not returned. At present, Zhang Heping's 6-year-old daughter and her mother-in-law are left home with no one taking care of them.

Practitioner Mr. Li Gangfeng, from Hefei City in Anhui Province, is a student of the class of 1999 in the Anhui Agricultural University. He was forcefully suspended from school for a year because he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. Not long after going back to school in the fall of 2000, because he accessed the Falun Dafa website www.minghui.net, he was illegally sentenced to one year in a labor camp. When Li Gangfeng went back to the University in 2001 to start over, he was arrested again during the 16^th Party Congress, as the police started a nationwide plan to arrest Falun Gong practitioners. In the hotel where the police held him, he was beaten and persecuted for twenty days. Li Gangfeng's case will soon be going to court. Also going to court will be Mr. Bi Xiaojun, an erhu (a two-stringed bowed Chinese musical instrument) player in the Huangmei Drama Group in Anhui Province.
