Falun Dafa Association of Taiwan Holds Press Conference Calling on China to Stop Arbitrary Detention of Taiwanese (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) On October 21 at 3pm, Taiwan Falun Gong practitioners held a press conference in the Legislative Building to expose the illegal detention of Taiwanese Lin Xiaokai by the China Shanghai Public Security Bureau. Practitioners pointed out that the case of Lin Xiaokai is not an isolated incident. The Falun Dafa Association made three statements at the press conference.

Mr. Chang Ching-hsi, Director of the Falun Dafa Association of Taiwan expressed that Mr. Lin Xiaokai has been missing for over ten days now, since October 8, without any news about him and there is no communication channel with the Chinese authorities. China is a country with 1.3 billion people and now can send spacecraft to the space, but still will not allow its people to freely cultivate and practice exercises. He hoped governments around the world, including Taiwan, jointly condemn the Jiang regime and demand that the Chinese government respect human rights.

Lin Xiaokai's newly-wed wife Chen Shuya said that her husband was persecuted just because he went to China to visit his friends. She urgently appealed to all circles of people in Taiwan and human rights organization around the world to be concerned with this incidence and demand that China respect basic human rights and release innocent Taiwanese.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Xiuhua said, "I was on a business trip to China and was detained for 28 days without any reason. During that time I was repeatedly interrogated by Chinese authorities day and night. If we do not stand up to speak the truth today, this kind of persecution would happen to anyone surrounding us. I hope the government and cabinet will pass legislation as soon as possible to safeguard human rights.

Mr. Chang Ching-hsi: I hope governments around the world including Taiwan jointly condemn Jiang's regime and demand that the Chinese government respect human rights.

Mr. Lin Zhuoshui, Member of the Legislative Committee said at the press conference that even though mainland China is constantly calling to improve three-links to increase trading and personnel exchange, Lin Xiaokai from Taiwan is being persecuted. I think this government just wants to make money but suppress Taiwanese people. This kind of government should be despised. I support Lin Xiaokai, not just because he is a Taiwanese citizen but because human rights should be the mutual values all human beings should enjoy.

Lin Shuya urgently appealed to all circles of Taiwan people and human rights organization around the world to be concerned with this incidence and demand China to respect basic human rights and release innocent Taiwanese.

Attorney Mrs. Zhu Wanqi stated that Falun Gong practitioners, no matter if they live in Mainland or overseas, or Taiwan, are persecuted today just because they persist in their beliefs in truth compassion tolerance. Because they stand by their belief and do not change their belief when time or location changes, they are persecuted. This is inconceivable for people who live in a free and law-abiding society. Human Rights organizations, including Amnesty International and the UN Human Right Committee have documented the persecution of Falun Gong in 18 reports from 2000 to 2003. The persecution of Falun Gong has become an international human rights concern.

Lin Xiaokai's wife Chen Shuya hopes her husband will return home soon.
