By a new Falun Dafa practitioner in China

When I started practicing Falun Gong, I could not find any other practitioners who lived near me. Since I didn't have anyone with whom I could share experiences, I felt a little lonely. In order to learn more about Falun Gong practitioners in my area and also to clarify the truth, one day I went to a certain policeman's house. He knows a lot about what is going on with Falun Dafa, and although we were acquainted with each other, we had never talked about his work.

As soon as I sat down, I told him that I had started to learn Falun Gong. I also told him about my mother and son, who also practice. In order to create an even better effect, I also brought out my medical records and physical examination report, to show him how my health had benefited from practicing Falun Gong.

I told him, "If I hadn't learned Falun Gong, I would never have known what it is. In the past, even though I myself would not ˇ®drop stones on someone who has fallen into a well,' I would still think that it's none of my business whoever you suppress. However, now it's personal."

"You say that Falun Gong is a strictly structured organization, but I'm also one of the Falun Gong practitioners, and it's very clear to me that if one wants to learn, one stays; otherwise, one can leave at will. Nobody will stop you or try to keep you; where's the strict organization?"

"You say Falun Gong collects money; however, even after I have practiced it for so long, nobody has ever asked for a penny from me. On the contrary, you can download all the materials free off the Internet."

"You say Falun Gong damages social security and seeks to overturn national political power; but you have arrested so many criminals, public security criminals ¨C who among them are Falun Gong practitioners?"

"It's even more ridiculous that you said that Falun Gong practitioners self-immolate and murder. Falun Gong forbids killing all lives, not to mention killing human beings. There are hundreds and thousands of people who commit suicide every year, and since many of them are members of the ruling party why not crack down on the Party?"

"You, actually, have the chance to contact Falun Gong directly, so go to take a look. Falun Gong practitioners are honest, compassionate, and they never try to profit from others. They only go to practice in the park every morning in order to have good health. Is it worth suppressing them, persecuting them with the most malicious methods? Have you not ever felt uneasy in your heart, doing these kinds of things?"

All the time this policeman had listened to me patiently. At first he smiled, then he became silent, and at last he kept shaking his head, "Can we not talk about this?"

I replied, "This is the most important issue to me. I didn't come here to question you; actually I came here to find more answers. I don't know anyone else who practices; however, you have gotten in touch with so many people, so you should have learned a little about it by now. I just want to listen to your real thoughts."

This policeman thought for a while, and then said, "Since you have taken so much effort to speak for most of the evening, let me say a few words. Falun Gong practitioners are all splendid people."

This was beyond my expectations. I had never expected, nor could I understand why, a policeman would say such words in so harsh an environment. His words affirmed Falun Gong practitioners, and more importantly, he affirmed Falun Gong.

Why did he say this?

After several days of my persistent requests, this policeman finally told me two stories that he had personally witnessed.

An elderly lady over 70 years old had been a hunchback for more than 20 years. Her body was bent almost 90 degrees, and she also had multiple diseases. One day someone gave her a book, Zhuan Falun [this book is the core teachings of Falun Gong]. Before she finished reading the book, she put down the book and said excitedly, "Now I understand all these things. I don't actually have any illnesses; all my pain and tribulations were from the karma I owed from all my previous lives. Now I will start to pay back these karmic debts."

And so, strictly following the requirements as outlined in the book, she started to seriously study the Fa and practice the exercises. After three months of practicing, one day in the park she and a dozen practitioners were doing the exercises together. It was about 4 or 5 AM. When they were doing the second exercise, the bones of her back suddenly made a noise like, "pa, pa, pa!" The people on the scene all heard the sound. Afterwards, she slowly stood up, and within several minutes the hunch on her back was gone and she stood up straight. The dozen or so folks with her saw the earthshaking moment and could not hold back their tears. The elderly lady immediately gave thanks for Teacher's kindness.

In 1999, the elderly lady was arrested and they demanded that she write a pledge to renounce Falun Dafa. She refused immediately and said, "I've had all kinds of diseases and was a hunchback for dozens of years. Teacher cured me without asking anything from me; now I have a wonderful life ¨C how it is possible to betray Teacher and write those words that slander Falun Dafa and Teacher?"

The main character of another story is a young man, who is a salesperson for a company. He had leukemia and was in the final stages; nothing could save his life. His company owed the hospital over a hundred thousand yuan for his treatment [500 yuan is equal to the average salary of an urban worker]. At last the doctor suggested that he leave the hospital. He went home and also stopped taking any medication. The doctor told his family to let him enjoy whatever he wanted to eat or amuse himself with, because he didn't have much time left.

At the time, the young man's sister had just learned Falun Gong, and so she gave the book, Zhuan Falun, to her brother. She said, "This is the last hope." Several days, then several months passed, and not only did he not die, but his health even improved. By the time he was arrested and taken to the police substation in 1999 for being a Falun Gong practitioner, he had already completely returned to health.

This policeman didn't tell me how these two people were doing right now. He just said, "What we hear may not be true; but what we see is true."
