Outstanding Teacher from Daqing City Describes How She Has Been Persecuted

(Clearwisdom.net) My name is Gao Shuqin, I am fifty years old and a teacher at the Daqing City 12^th High School. Before July 20, 1999, I received awards for being an outstanding teacher and Dean of classes from the City of Daqing and the Daqing Petroleum Management Bureau. For many years, I was awarded for being an outstanding teacher and prestigious staff member by the Educational Training Center of the Daqing Petroleum Management Bureau. I was an active, valued staff member in the Daqing City 12^th High School.

Because I had worked so hard for so many years, I had many illnesses including pulmonary tuberculosis and pleuritis, which brought me endless pain and my family heavy financial burdens. I was often exhausted, short of breath, and sweating profusely at work, and sometimes had to leave in the middle of a class. I gladly learned the practice of Falun Dafa in October 1998 and all my stubborn illnesses were cured in only two months. I deeply felt the power of this "supernormal science."

Out of his jealousy, Jiang Zemin started the bloody suppression of Falun Gong practitioners on July 20, 1999. He set the policies "ruin their reputation, destroy them financially and annihilate them physically" against the kindhearted Dafa practitioners. He has planned and carried out a tragedy in the human world: as of now more than 800 Dafa practitioners have been killed in this persecution because they chose to stay on the righteous path.

I went to Beijing to appeal on June 4, 2000 and was arrested. My work place sent 3 people to pick me up. I ended up having to pay a fine plus their round trip airfares and expenses, which cost me a total of 11,000 Yuan [Chinese currency, the monthly salary for an average Chinese urban worker is about 500 Yuan]. After I returned, I was detained in a brainwashing center held by the Daqin Petroleum Management for 2 weeks. I went on a hunger strike for 5 days and was released unconditionally later on. I was charged 2,450 Yuan for food and lodging.

I went to Beijing to validate Dafa three times after that. Because of my appeals, the school was fined many times by the government and the school asked me to pay for it. The secretary told me that I had owed the school more than 40,000 Yuan from fines to the school and myself.

Because I practice "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance," I was detained many times and forced to go to brainwashing classes, my household properties were confiscated twice and I was sent to a labor camp once. The school also suspended me from my job. I have not been paid one cent since I went to appeal in Beijing and the school has not allowed me to go back to work.

In fact, my monthly salary was 677.9 Yuan and at this point the school has illegally taken 27,116 Yuan away from me. If the Jiang's regime did not persecute me, I would have gotten at least 60,000 Yuan in total salary and bonuses. Not only do I not have this money, but my life is worse than that of a jobless person. At least a jobless person can get compensated 200 Yuan a month and a typical person away from his job can also get paid, but I have nothing as a teacher waiting to go back to work.

After the illegal labor reform forced on me since July 2000 ended, I went to the school and asked for my job back. I said to the principal: "I am a working teacher and the classroom is my work place. I did not do anything wrong by practicing truthfulness, compassion and forbearance. Why won't you let me come back to work?" The principal got very mad at me, "Even now you still think this way, how can you come back to work?!"

I found the secretary and asked him for my job back. The secretary told me the school does need a teacher like me, but I would have to write a guarantee letter saying that I will never practice Falun Gong again. I refused immediately, "I am a teacher and it is my right to teach. An outstanding teacher needs noble virtue and ideas. The truthfulness, compassion and forbearance I practice will only make me a better educator, why do I need to write a so-called guarantee letter?!" The secretary figured out another way and asked me to fill out a job application. I said, "I am already a teacher and it is only natural for me to work and teach. Why do I need to fill out an application?" I still refused.

The secretary made up a "job application" for me afterward and asked me to sign. I read it and realized that it was a guarantee latter. I firmly refused to sign.

My husband, Li Ling, was also sentenced to force labor reform twice for almost 3 years because he is a firm believer of Dafa. My 2 children are going to college and I do not have any income. I know Jiang's regime is trying to cut off my financial income in order to force me to give up practicing truthfulness, compassion and forbearance. I am deprived of the most basic rights of employment and living. I will not give up my belief in truthfulness, compassion and forbearance, even if I have to beg for a living!
