Handan City Court in Hebei Province Sentences Five Dafa Practitioners to Heavy Prison Terms

(Clearwisdom.net) On August 26, 2001, the police from the Hanshan District of Handan City abducted Li Mingtao, Liu Jun and several other practitioners who worked on the production of Dafa truth-clarification materials. After the arrest, the police illegally searched their bodies over 10 times, taking away all their cash, ID's, and cell phones. The police also went to the practitioners' homes and seized all of their Dafa books, cash, bank deposit books and other valuables as well.

During the detention, the practitioners were subjected to long-term interrogations and torture. They were shocked with electric batons and hung up. As a result, their limbs were swollen, and the handcuffs cut into their flesh. The police also whipped the soles of their feet with willow branches. The practitioners were also subjected to sleep deprivation. After over 20 days, they were sent to a detention center, where they went on a hunger strike to protest but were brutally force-fed.

On July 3, 2003, the Hanshan District Court held a secret trial for these practitioners. Shi Qiaoling was sentenced to 13 years in prison, Liu Jun to 11 years, Li Mingtao to 11 years, Tong Cunshu to 5 years and Li Xiangling to 3 years. These practitioners filed an appeal to the intermediate court of Handan City. Recently the intermediate court delivered a verdict to keep the original sentence. On November 13, 2003, without informing the family members, the police sent Li Mingtao and Liu Jun to the Fourth Prison located in the north suburb of Shijiazhuang City in Hebei Province.

From the arrest to the trial, two years and three months passed. In the document issued by the court, there's even not a common seal. It is obvious there is no human rights whatsoever in this country, not to mention any enforceable law, when it comes to Falun Gong practitioners.
