Sentenced to Twelve Years in Prison, Falun Dafa Practitioner Mr. Ma Xuejun Is Now Critically Ill

Ma Xuejun, a Dafa disciple from Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province, was formerly a senior official at the Railway Bureau of Jiamusi City. He was sentenced to twelve years in prison because of his practice of Falun Gong. He was later rejected from the prison because of his very poor health condition. He is currently in critical condition and is still being detained in the Jiamusi Detention Center.

Before Ma practiced Falun Gong, he suffered from aplastic anemia. After practicing he fully recovered from the illness. In addition, he gained a better understanding of the meaning of life. During the persecution of Falun Gong, he was laid off, was illegally detained, and was sent to forced labor camps because he upheld his belief in Falun Gong.

On December 12, 2002 Ma was once again kidnapped by the police from the Jiamusi Police Department, the Dongfeng Division, and the Jiatie Branch of the Jiamusi Police Department. Two leaders in the National Security Brigade of Jiamusi Public Safety Bureau, Chen Yongde and Chen Wanyou, ordered policemen to torture him for three days using various means, such as shocking him with electric batons, hitting his toes with chair legs, and suffocating him with plastic bags, etc. As a consequence, he suffered a lumbar vertebra injury which made it hard for him to move his legs. In addition, his toes were covered with huge blood blisters, his toenails came off, and his ring finger was disabled. With these problems, he will need care to live on his own. Furthermore, the policemen made up false evidence and illegally sentenced him to twelve years in prison. Ma Xuejun later appealed to the Intermediate Court of Jiamusi City, which ignored his appeal.

In August 2003, he was moved to the Xianglan Prison, but was sent back due to his poor health. He has been locked up in the Jiamusi Detention Center ever since. To protest the persecution, the unlawful kidnapping, and the month-long detention by Jiang's regime, Ma started a hunger strike. During his hunger strike, he was force-fed, which resulted in serious injuries to his stomach. Since then, he has been vomiting frequently and is unable to eat. He is currently in critical condition.
