(Clearwisdom.net) [Beijing] Imprisoned Practitioners in Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp Stand Together Against Vicious
Persecution On the night of December 22, 2002, because police in Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp deprived a
practitioner of sleep for three days and nights, the practitioner broke free from the cell, and
spoke loudly to the detained practitioners in other cells and called for everyone to stand up to
expose the evil. Immediately, many practitioners rushed over the "prohibition line" and
shouted, "No beating, No persecution." A policeman wearing undergarments jumped out and
blocked the exit, hurriedly promising practitioners' requests and making guarantees. But very soon,
many policemen came and rounded up many people. Later, others had their terms prolonged and some
were subjected to brutal torture. All newspapers and magazines were taken away; the practitioners
were forced to recite prison rules only and were not allowed to buy any daily necessities. Since many practitioners who came out from the labor camp have gone back to their cultivation and
many people have been detained and released several times, Jiang's followers have arranged for
people to stay at Tuanhe Labor Camp to supervise the forced brainwashing. [Liaozhong County, Liaoning Province] Wang Huan Is Illegally Detained During the period of the 16th Party Congress, practitioner Wang Huan was arrested when
he was managing his business at his shoe booth. He is currently detained in Longshan Forced Labor
Camp in Shenyang City. The police have refused the family's visitation request. There has been no
information about Wang Huan for over two months. [Xingtai City, Hebei Province] Officials Abuse their Power to Persecute a Female Falun Gong
Practitioner and Her Grandson An elderly female practitioner lived in a rural area in Xingtai City, Heibei Province. Her
grandson was recruited into the army in the winter of 2002. Because of her practice of Falun Gong,
the county threatened to cancel her grandson's qualification for recruitment. Her son and
daughter-in-law were quite mad at her, yelling and complaining that her practice of Falun Gong had
destroyed their son's future. The practitioner told them, "I had a headache for forty years
without any way of curing it. After practicing Falun Gong, my disease is gone. We practitioners have
no pursuit of personal benefit and gain. What it is wrong with striving to be a good person? Those
bad people abuse their power to persecute Falun Gong and even bring it on my grandson. It clearly
shows that they are evil." Since the practitioner's son registered his residency according to his father-in-law's, the
village provided a confirmation letter, and the son had to submit 5,000 Yuan to the county authority
and the person who was in charge of recruitment in order to buy the way in for his son. [Note: Due to the restrictions of the residency system in China, people cannot move about freely.
Especially those in the rural population are tightly restrained by their original residency. The
only way for farm families' children to leave the rural area and make a living in cities is either
by being admitted to colleges, or being recruited into the army. Because education in rural area is
generally poor, and college tuition is expensive, these children have only a small chance to go to
college; thus, to get into the army becomes a quick and easy way to break free from the rural
residency restrictions.] January 25, 2003 Posting date: 2/17/2003
