The San Francisco Bay Area Campaign to Rescue Charles Li Receives Extensive Media Coverage (Photo)

(Clearwisdom.net) On January 30, 2003, Falun Gong practitioners in the San Francisco Bay Area held a press conference in front of the Chinese Consulate to rescue American citizen and Falun Gong practitioner Charles Li. Many Chinese and English media including ABC (TV), Columbia Broadcasting Company (TV), New Tang Dynasty TV station, San Francisco Chronicle, San Jose Mercury, The Epochtimes, RFA, and the Voice of Bay Area Chinese Radio Station showed up and covered the event.

At the press conference, Dr. Li's fiancee called on the Jiang regime to release Dr. Li unconditionally. She said that Dr. Li is a very good person and that the real reason he was arrested is that he is a Falun Gong practitioner. Dr. Zhang Xuerong and Mr. Adam Lenny from Falun Dafa Information Center also appealed to the international community to pay attention to the matter and help rescue Dr. Li.

The news about Dr. Li's arrest was soon reported. On the second day in the San Francisco Bay Area, national media such as CNN, Washington Post, New York Times, VOA, and all local Chinese and English media in the Bay Area filed reports.

Falun Gong practitioners will continue to demand that the Chinese government release Dr. Li until he returns home.
