Some Understandings Reached While Preparing for the "Journey of Falun Dafa" Photo Exhibition at Penn State (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) On November 4, 2002, Penn State University hosted a reception for the "Journey of Falun Dafa" photo exhibition. The preparation was a process of cultivating Xinxing [mind or heart nature] for the Dafa disciples, and it was also very important to the university faculty and students.

The university officials made careful preparations for the reception, materials and food, insured the 24 pictures for $5,000 and showed great care for the Dafa pictures. The university personnel said that they were very excited to host the activity. A student representative in charge of the reception deeply moved me as he designed posters advertising the event with all his heart.

Something else remarkable is the story of an American student named Max. After his second day of practicing Falun Dafa, he agreed to become the president of Falun Dafa Association at Penn State University. He also actively collected signatures from students and explained to them the facts about the persecution of Falun Dafa. He printed out about a thousand flyers for this photo exhibition. We distributed the flyers and newspaper together in the cold winter night. Though for many times we were refused, even ridiculed, he always gave me a smile and then continued clarifying the truth to other people. He also tried very hard to learn how to do more Dafa work. While on the way to some places, he often said to himself, "Falun Fofa, Falun Fofa." [Falun Buddha Law]

What moved me deeply is in those cold days when we practiced the exercises outdoors, seeing him do the sitting meditation in full lotus position for an hour and enduring the pain in his legs. He told me if he wanted to be a part of "Falun Dafa," he must conduct himself according to the requirement of Dafa. Just like going to college, we had to get an ID first. In the beginning, according to my human concepts, I assumed that he couldn't do the sitting meditation for very long, so we practiced the sitting meditation for 40 minutes. One day, I told him that the music tape is one hour long, and he said angrily, "You deceived me, it is an hour, not 40 minutes. Why didn't you tell me earlier?" I was a bit surprised and also realized that Dafa can't be changed, how could I shorten the exercise time according to my own concept? I realized that Dafa is unshakable, and Dafa is solemn. We should follow Teacher's words. So long as we practice cultivation in Dafa, we must abide by all requirements and standards of Dafa. I was grateful for Master's timely reminder of where I had erred, and I also thanked Max for his sincere help, allowing me to discover my insufficient understanding of the Fa.

University newspaper reporters conducted an interview and reported on our activity. They provided another opportunity for faculty and students to get to know Falun Dafa. Dafa's light illuminated Penn State University.
