Exposing the Nature of "Enlightening Along an Evil Path" (Part 1)

I am a practitioner from Mainland China. I am submitting this article to you as the author requested me to do.

The author was sentenced to a labor camp for two years because he appealed to the government for Falun Gong several times. During his two-year detention in the labor camp, he endured a lot of physical torture. All of that didn't shake his righteous belief in Dafa. Instead, he accumulated much experience in how to see through the nature of "enlightening" along an evil path. While he was in the labor camp he exposed the evil "enlightenment" and many practitioners who had been brainwashed returned to the righteous cultivation way. Thus, the evil people hated him very much and were, at the same time, afraid of him so they transferred him to other places and detained him with criminals.

Later, he was released from the labor camp unconditionally. He decided to write an article to summarize his understanding of the nature of "enlightening" along an evil path. The physical torture is easier for many practitioners to come through; but it is much harder to distinguish evil theories, especially for those who haven't studied the Fa deeply.

This practitioner spent two and a half months writing his article and finally completed it after eliminating all kinds of evil interference. The article thoroughly exposes the evil theories used for brainwashing Falun Gong practitioners. In the past, Clearwisdom.net has published a few articles exposing evil "enlightenment," but they all focused on a certain aspect of the evil theories. There have been no articles that systematically and comprehensively expose "enlightening" along an evil path. This article will help Dafa disciples come through the brainwashing by evil theories' and also help awaken those who have accepted the evil theories but still have a bit of righteous thoughts left. It will help them make a correct decision between the righteous and the evil.

In June 2000, I was sentenced to a labor camp for two years because I openly exposed the evil media's lies and slander against Dafa and Teacher. During what was basically more than two years of detention in local police stations, detention centers, and labor camps, I met with various kinds of situations that were more complicated than I would have ever imagined. I went through both physical and mental torture, but all of that could not shake my righteous belief in Dafa and Teacher. I took every opportunity to clarify the truth, oppose the arrangements made by the old forces and expose the evil "enlightenment." In the end, I left the labor camp as a Dafa disciple, in an open and aboveboard manner. For many days in the labor camp, I had to work eighteen to twenty hours straight. One time they tied my hands and feet on a cross-shaped wooden frame and had me pose like a "flying plane" for several days [For a detailed description of this and other forms of torture used in forced labor camps, see

There were also some periods during which they woke me up every ten minutes and didn't allow me to get any sleep; even so, I was still forced to do hard labor in the daytime. Once when I was on hunger strike they forcefully fed me through a tube. All in all, I experienced a wide variety of physical torture methods.

However, these are not what I want to talk about in this article. Although physical torture is terribly painful, as long as a cultivator holds righteous thoughts and puts down the thought of life and death (here it means one is truly unafraid of life and death in one's mind rather than only being aware of the principle), he or she will pass it, and also, it won't last long. What I want to talk about in this article is the evil "enlightenment" of those who have been transformed in the labor camps or the brainwashing centers, and the harm caused by the evil things "enlightened" to regarding Dafa as well as the true nature of evil "enlightenment."

During my detention I happened to meet several practitioners who had made great contributions to Dafa. Some of them used to be incomparably determined in Dafa and had validated Dafa with their lives. Some of them had even attended Teacher's Fa-lectures several times (up to four times). I even met one person who could recite all of Zhuan Falun. The brutal physical torture never moved them; however, after listening to those who had "enlightened" along an evil path, they started changing towards evil. It took them from one or two days to several months to change. They then wrote the so-called "Renouncement Statements," "Repentance Statements," or "Guarantee Statements" and turned against Dafa. This is astonishing and at the same time pitiful. As the course of Fa-rectification progressed, more and more practitioners who were brainwashed have realized the nature of "enlightening" along an evil path. They published their solemn declarations and returned to Dafa. Since they took a crooked path, the lessons they learned are profound and bitter.

In this article, I will list all the evil theories I know one by one, and point out their absurdity with logic and from the standpoint of the Fa. I hope it will help distinguish the righteous from the evil and thus help practitioners better oppose evil "enlightenment" and avoid being deceived by those deceptive theories.

In addition, I feel that since disciples outside prisons or labor camps have had less pressure, it is easier for them to understand things objectively and rationally from the standpoint of the Fa. However, since those in labor camps or brainwashing centers were under much greater pressure and often in terrible mental states, as time passed, if they didn't study the Fa deeply, or their righteous thoughts were not strong enough, or they didn't pay enough attention to sending forth righteous thoughts, it was easy for them to doubt Dafa and have distorted thinking. Plus, the theories of those who have "enlightened" along an evil path are seductive. Once one's head is not clear one will easily accept evil "enlightenment" in order to have temporary relief. Cultivation is a serious matter, which does not allow for even a bit of falsehood. One little omission will induce the evil.

My personal experience is that to pass the tests in prisons or labor camps, one must do the following:

1. Have a deep, rational, and comprehensive understanding of Dafa. Only when one meets this requirement can one not be deceived by evil theories in an extremely complicated environment.
2. Be determined in Dafa and have great endurance. Determined belief can enhance one's ability to endure. In turn, great endurance makes one clearheaded and able to rationally think through every tribulation. Therefore, righteous belief and thoughts can be maintained.
3. Take human feelings lightly. If one has a preoccupied human heart, even if his righteous thoughts are strong, he will have difficulty passing the tests and will be interfered with by human sentimentality.
4. Truly get rid of fear. Do not be moved by the trial of life and death. Some of the forms of persecution by the evil are vicious and it seems that you have nowhere to go. At this moment, only when you are fearless and unmoved by the trial of life and death can you pass the test.
