The 59th Annual Session of UN Commission on Human Rights Will Convene Soon--Major Media in Geneva Focus on War (Photos)
(Clearwisdom.net) Epoch Times Reporter Wang Hong Reports from Geneva: On
March 17, 2003, the 59th annual session of UN Commission on Human
Rights will convene in Geneva. Representatives from each country to attend the
conference have arrived at Geneva. News media also gathered in Geneva to cover
the conference.
Geneva Streets There are only two days left before the opening of the conference. Major
Newspapers such as Geneva Forum, Morning News, Times and others are reporting stories
from the reconstruction of a city building, the opening of a new soccer field,
and also the war with Iraq, but seldom report related news of the human
rights conference, indicating their lack of concern towards the conference. The
main media focus is on the possible war in Iraq.
The United Nations Commission on Human Rights, composed of 53 countries,
meets each year in regular session in March and April for six weeks in Geneva.
Over 3,000 delegates from member and observer countries and from
non-governmental organizations participate.
