Calling People in China: Helping People to Choose Their Own Futures

On weekends several of us young practitioners usually gather together to call college students in China. During casual phone conversations, we make use of the wisdom we have gained through our Falun Dafa cultivation. We clarify the truth, letting these students know the true nature of the persecution against Falun Dafa. Some practitioners express their feelings from their hearts: "Falun Dafa is good! Falun Gong should not be persecuted, and I hope you'll understand the truth." The results are generally very good.

Remembering the very first time I called Mainland college students, I was so eager to let them know about the truth that a strings of words just gushed out: "Hi! I am a college student from Taiwan who practices Falun Dafa. There are 300,000 to 400,000 people practicing Falun Gong in Taiwan. Falun Gong has been widely spread, and there are approximately 100 million people practicing it in more than sixty countries..." They hung up without waiting for me to finish. I looked within and found my approach out of balance and very emotional.

So, I just sat and sent righteous thoughts to wipe out the negative influences that prevented people from finding out the truth. I also listened to other practitioners' experiences in clarifying the truth. One female practitioner's kindness in explaining the truth touched me deeply. Even when facing a woman's suspicion, she spoke peacefully and tirelessly. Finally, the practitioner won her over, and she gave her an address for sending more information about Dafa.

The next time when I called China, I no longer forced the listeners to accept my point of view; I just tried to tell them, "We are calling today just to explain the facts, which you may not know about." I told them, "You may want to know what Falun Dafa is saying." They quieted down. So, I started from the so-called "self-immolation" on Tiananmen Square, and continued on about the countless innocent people were wrongly accused during Cultural Revolution, and who were all later exonerated.

Their attitude changed very fast, from "let me argue with you," to "let me listen and think carefully." They were willing to change their viewpoint and accepted ours. Everyone's consciousness knows the difference between truth and lies. By telling them the facts about Dafa, we are providing them the opportunity to choose their own futures.

I discovered my own inadequacies in explaining the truth, such as not putting enough emphasis on sending out righteous thoughts and clarifying the truth without enough kindness and patience. I need to cultivate more deeply.
