Zhongguang News: 15,000 Students in Taiwan Join Signature Petition in Support of Persecuted Falun Gong Student Practitioners in China

(Clearwisdom.net) [Zhongguang News] Recently, twenty-nine student organizations from public and private universities in Taiwan, including National Taiwan University and National Tsing-Hua University, joined a signature petition in support of students in China who were and are still persecuted for practicing Falun Gong. This is the first large-scale activity supporting Falun Gong in China launched by students in Taiwan. At present, more than 15,000 people have signed their names. The students will deliver the petition lists to the State Council, PRC and to Amnesty International. (Reported by Luo Haoen)

Chinese police had arrested student Falun Gong practitioner Zhao Ming from Tsinghua University in Mainland China for practicing Falun Gong. He was sent to a labor camp and suffered over a year of brutal beatings and humiliation; he was also shocked with electric batons and at one time was deprived of sleep for 14 consecutive days. After suffering all kinds of tortures, Zhao Ming, who used to study in Ireland, was eventually released with the support from the international community. Other students without any connections or foreign affiliations who are detained in prisons and labor camps are still abused with inhuman tortures.

According to available statistics, fifteen university students in China have been tortured to death for practicing Falun Gong; twelve have disappeared and another 129 have been kidnapped or are being illegally detained. Countless other students have been expelled from school or their degrees were unreasonably annulled. Twenty-nine student organizations from universities including the National Taiwan University, National Tsing-Hua University and National Chiao-Tung University have launched a joint-signature petition movement and will protest to the State Council of PRC through certain channels.
