(Clearwisdom.net) A Dafa practitioner recently broke out from Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. In the past two years, she has witnessed the policemen's vicious behavior there. Below are several persecution cases she witnessed since last December.

Since the beginning of October 2002, police have carried out another round of violent persecution against those practitioners who were very steadfast in Dafa. They first fabricated rumors to threaten the practitioners: If practitioners would not give up practicing Falun Gong, they would either be sentenced or be transferred to the northwest part of China! [The northwest part of China is an area of poverty and atrocious weather] Then, the police used extremely cruel methods to persecute Dafa practitioners.

1. Practitioner Zhang Xiuling, who was from Dalian City and is now imprisoned in Division No.2, kept practicing Dafa persistently since she was arrested in May 2002. This time, the team leader Wang Xiujuan instigated criminals to torture her with the "wheel tactic" [the police took turns torturing a practitioner continuously) ] day and night, and did not allow Zhang Xiuling to sleep. Everyday, they forced her to do army squats [a kind of squat position that was usually applied in the Chinese army], and would not allow her to wash her face or brush her teeth. She even had to squat while eating. At the same time, some collaborators* read aloud books that slandered Dafa and forced her to listen. Ms. Zhang did not give in although she had been continuously squatting for three days. The criminals hung her up to a heater pipe, which was as high as an arm could be stretched. Though they hung her there for two days, Ms. Zhang was still firmly steadfast in Dafa. The criminals then hung her upside down from the pipe for three more days; however, this still could not shake her righteous belief in Dafa. The police shocked her with electric batons for two days. At that moment, Zhang Xiuling did not feel any pain at all, but the wicked policeman who was holding the electric baton was himself shocked, and staggered away with a frightened expression. By then, several of those who had "enlightened" along an evil path crazily besieged Zhang Xiuling, beat and kicked her. Ms. Zhang's eyes were beaten black and blue, and she could not even stand still.

2. Dafa practitioner Du Hongqin from Beining City in Liaoning Province was over sixty years old. Ever since she was detained in Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, she remained very steadfast in Dafa. The criminals first also forced her to do the army squat, but Du Hongqin firmly resisted. The team leader Wang Zhengli hung up Ms. Du in person. Even after having been hung for 48 hours, Du Hongqin still would not yield. Fearing to take responsibilities should Ms. Du die, the criminals took off her handcuffs. Then they continued to persecute her by depriving her of sleep for days and nights. Now she has been tortured and is extremely weak.

3. A Dafa practitioner named Wen who was an engineer was imprisoned in Division No. 3. The police tortured her by forcing her to stand, squat, or sit for a long time (both legs crossed with palms and arches pointing up). However, none of these torture methods could shake her firm belief in Dafa. The criminals then told her, "Aren't you steadfast in Falun Gong? We'll let you do the Falun Standing Stance [a tranquil standing meditation composed of four wheel-holding positions, the hands are in front of the head] for a whole day!" As a result, she was forced to remain in this position for the whole day. Finally, her entire body was numb, and she was carried back to the cell. After she was released when her term was over, she was again sent back to the custodial center by the local "610 Office."* Because she would not give in, she was later illegally sentenced to forced labor, and was sent to a labor camp for further persecution.

4. In 2001, Dafa practitioner Liu Yuzhi from Jinzhou City was illegally arrested and sent to the City No. 1 Detention Center by the village head Li Baoqi and police officer Liu Yao. In October, Ms. Liu was transferred to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp for forceful brainwashing. The criminals first forced her to read materials that slandered Dafa. After being refused, the criminals forced her to squat day and night. After torturing her for two days, they tied her up, and forced her to sit down with both legs crossed. Both her hands and feet were tied, and she was forced to continue to listen to the lies of those who had "enlightened" along the evil path. She suffered this way for several days and nights; as soon as she closed her eyes, several collaborators would push her to awaken her, and shout, "Do not sleep, listen carefully!" When Liu Yuzhi closed her eyes, they would pour cold water on her. They did not untie her until they had tortured her for over five hours, but then they forced her to squat again. Seeing that she still would not yield, chief Zhang Zhuohui hung Ms. Liu up with handcuffs. After several hours, seeing that she still did not yield, several collaborators tied her up, and put her in the corner of a restroom. Two hours later, her feet were swollen due to lack of blood circulation. Liu Yuzhi was tortured for over ten days. As a result, she became skin and bones.

In April 2001, during the period when Liu Yuzhi was illegally imprisoned in Jinzhou No. 1 Detention Center, Ms. Liu's father was so distraught that he committed suicide by taking poison. Her husband went to the local police station several times to request the police to let Ms. Liu go home to pay her respects to her father, but policeman Zhang Li from Tian Qiao Police Station of Jinzhou Development Zone rejected the request.

The police in Masanjia Forced Labor Camp carried out the one-month persecution against the 300 very firm Dafa practitioners using very brutal means. Some practitioners who were forced to say that they would give up practicing felt very regretful; therefore, some of them wrote solemn declarations to express their firm determination to continue practicing Dafa. These practitioners then suffered from even more vicious persecution.

*Collaborators [Former Falun Gong practitioners who have gone astray due to brainwashing and torture.]

*"610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.
