The Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners in Dazu County, Chongqing City

Since July 20^th 1999, the Jiang regime has implemented the policy of "defaming their reputation, bankrupting them financially, destroying them physically" against Falun Gong practitioners. Instructed by orders from high-ranking authorities, the "610 Office" [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.] and various government offices in the county and township police stations have set up brainwashing classes one by one.

Over the past three years, more than 200 instances of practitioners in Dazu County directly being persecuted by various methods have been reported. Twenty people have been sent to labor camps: Li Jian, Feng Julun, Liu Shurong, Chen Qingbing, Zheng Xuegang, Li Liangduan, Zhao Zhonglu, Yang Tianbao, Jiang Zhongliang, Yi Tingzhong, Zhou Zhongxing (female), Liu Hongju (female), Tang Jing (female), Tang Dayu (female), Li Kaixiang (female), and Yang Huanying (female). People such as Li Jian, Liu Shurong, Li Liangduan, Zhao Zhonglu, Zhou Zhongxing and Liu Hongju have been sent to the labor camp twice. Yang Tianbao, 16 years old, is a middle school student who was sent to Xishanping Labor Camp. He is the youngest one there.

People who have been held in the detention center in Dazu County include:

Zeng Xiangjin, Zheng Xuequn, Deng Shangyuan, Tang Simin, Zhang Zhishu, Hou Zaoying, Zhang Hongying and Zhao Dong.

Chen Guokang is a peasant in Mingjiang Village, Mituo Town, Dazu County. His wife, Tang Dayu, was detained in Maojiashan Women's Labor Camp for being a Falun Dafa practitioner. Chen Guokang, his daughter and 2 year old grandson were detained and sent to a brainwashing center in Dazu County for over 5 months. Deng Shangyuan, a teacher in Liuhe Elementary School in the Town of Baoxing, Dazu County was also detained in a brainwashing center with her 15 month-old baby. An elderly person over 60 years old is also being detained there. They are forced to pay 10 Yuan every day for the cost of living, which includes daily charges from the brainwashing center and a "guarantee" fee of at least several hundred to a thousand Yuan.

The officials have implemented all kinds of methods to persecute practitioners by mentally and physically torturing them as well as extorting money from them. The relatives, friends, and co-workers, including the companies where the practitioners have worked, are being implicated. Many families have been torn apart and the practitioners were forced to become destitute and homeless in order to avoid being illegally arrested.

We earnestly request the "World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong" to conduct an international investigation in Dazu County.
