College Campus Becomes Detention Center, Classmates Threatened with Denied Graduation
(Clearwisdom.net) I am a female Falun Dafa practitioner who was going to college in 2000. In July of that year, I
went to Tiananmen to appeal for Falun Gong by doing the peaceful sitting meditation. Police dragged
me into a vehicle, sent me to the police station, detained me for three days in a detention center,
and later locked me in the Beijing Liaison Office. The local Riot Prevention Troop escorted me back
to my local police station three days later. Then three teachers from my school took me back to a
closed brainwashing session. I was isolated in foreign student housing for 10 days. Then the local
police detained me another 15 days. I had to attend the brainwashing sessions after school for the fall semester, and was not allowed
to go to regular classes. I had been under house arrest in empty staff housing for more than 20
days, with one guard and one janitor watching me. In November 2000, I was suspended from school for
one year. When I traveled by bus to Beijing in December 2000, the local bus station police searched my
body, and detained me for six days because I refused to curse the teacher of Falun Gong. I went on
hunger strike, but they still extorted 300 Yuan [average monthly pay of an urban worker is 500
Yuan] for the cost of food, and did not even refund my 300-Yuan ticket. A policeman from my
hometown and a "610 Office" [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong,
with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and
judiciary systems] worker took me back, detained me for another 48 hours in the police station,
and then detained me for one month in a detention center. At the end of the detention period, my teacher and the vice director of the Security Department
forced me to attend a closed-door brainwashing class held in a hotel by the District Political and
Judiciary Committee. The class was guarded by a steel gate, barred windows, and guards, just like a
prison. Like other practitioners, I was locked in a small room with 2 employees guarding me. One
month later they illegally sentenced me to one year at a labor camp. After this term ended, I returned to school, where my department arranged for two classmates to
live with me off campus. These classmates were assigned to report to the department office. They had
to follow me closely, never leave me alone, and were even threatened that if I went to appeal or did
other things for Dafa, they would not graduate. After I graduated from college, the local police withheld my new residential ID and told me
directly that they will be watching me closely.
