Her family members tried several times to have Jinja Town Police Station take responsibility for the medical expenses, but the police denied beating her and would not pay a penny. After Zhai got out of the hospital, the police in Jinja Town Police Station went to her home again before she was fully recovered and kidnapped her, taking her to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. But on physical examination at the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, Zhai was found to have signs of stroke in addition to injuries, so they refused to take her.
