Changing My Mentality in Clarifying the Truth to My Father Made All the Difference

(Clearwisdom.net) My father is over 80 years old. He has worked for 40 years in the field of education and has become afraid of becoming part of any political campaign here in China.

Since Jiang Zemin's persecution of Falun Dafa, he had always tried to stop me from practicing Falun Gong. Due to my very firm determination, he finally gave up. It was difficult to explain the truth about Dafa to him and each time I tried, it had bad results. For a long time, I was really somewhat afraid of talking to him about Dafa. However, I continued to talk with him about this topic whenever I had a chance. Most recently, he heard that someone saw me when I was delivering Dafa materials and he became very worried.

It is my understanding that the Fa-rectification has come to the final stage. I have matured in my approach, and now simply wanted to save my father just as I would any other person, not as my family member. I studied the Fa with a calm heart and sent forth righteous thoughts to eliminate all evil factors that interfered with him understanding the truth about Falun Dafa. I told him, "Our Teacher says in Zhuan Falun that 'matter and mind are one and the same.' You should no longer retain those bad thoughts. We cultivate Truth, Compassion, and Forbearance and always do the right thing. We pass out Falun Gong truth clarification materials to enable people to understand the truth and save their lives. The more people understand the truth, the better our environment will be, and the safer we will be. If someone understands the truth, they would not report us to the police, no matter how much money reward is offered." When I said these words, my heart was calm and I treated him as a person, and saved him. My father's attitude had greatly changed. In the end, he said, "I am not against your practicing Falun Gong. If you distribute materials, you must ensure your own safety, and do it according to the circumstances." His attitude toward Dafa became very different.

I think that our mind is critial in clarifying the truth to our relatives. When our mind is good and we can truly manifest compassion when talking to people, we can eliminate many evil factors that obstruct them. When our thoughts are righteous, the righteous power will not have any barriers in other dimensions. Our words, although perhaps not much different on the surface, can reach people's hearts.
