Yang Hailing, female, 34 years old, worked at No.18 Donghai Coal Mine in Mishan City, Heilongjiang Province. She was in charge of a Dafa materials production site. In March 2002 she was arrested and brutally tortured at Mishan City No. 1 Detention Center. Her hands were cuffed behind her back, and the tendons in her hands were strapped for so long they snapped. The police brutally beat her and forcibly inserted a beer bottle in her mouth; then they force-fed her with a mustard solution. Some of this went into her lungs and she choked and coughed for a long time. She wasn't given any medical treatment and died from torture on April 12, 2003. The detention center kept her death a secret and lied to the outside, claiming, "Yang Hailing died from a stroke."
