After the Accident in a Small Coalmine -- A Story of Karmic Retribution
(Clearwisdom.net)
In the northeast of Jilin Province, there are many small coalmines. In one of
the mines, an accident occurred, and the mine collapsed, trapping three workers
inside. One of them was a young man named Shanqi (alias). His whole body was
trapped under big blocks of stone with just his head peering out. Each time he
exhaled, the stones suppressing his stomach would cave in a tiny bit further,
making the situation very dangerous. Other workers came to his rescue and jacked
up the blocks of stones. Just after they got Shanqi out, several more collapses
happened .
Afterwards, the young man said that he had the fortune to be saved because he
treated Dafa well. Ever since his wife started practicing Falun Gong, Shanqi
supported her very much. When his wife could not get up on time to practice in
the morning, he would call her and wake her up. Even after July 20, 1999, he
supported her practice as usual.
There was a person named Zhao who had worked in another coalmine in the same
area. Since his wife had started practicing Falun Gong, he was against her
practice and always caused her trouble. He had even held out a kitchen knife
once, threatening to kill her. Because of his opposition, his wife gradually
gave up practicing. Later, Zhao died in a coalmine collapse.
Another unusual phenomenon took place in the same town on January 30, 2003.
On the Chinese New Year Eve, the captain of a police unit found a practitioner
posting a Dafa banner. He then ran and attempted to catch this practitioner, but
before he got to this practitioner, he twisted his back and could not move.
[Editors' Note: In both Western and Chinese culture, the principle of
karmic retribution, that is, being held ultimately accountable for one's own
actions, is widely accepted. The fundamental teaching of Falun Gong is the
characteristic of the universe, "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." The
universe will reward actions that are in harmony with this principle, while
actions such as beating, torturing and murdering people will incur karmic
retribution. Stated another way, good deeds will be rewarded with good, while
evildoings will meet due retribution. Articles such as this one are meant as a
compassionate; reminder of this principle to those who would commit wrongdoing.
While many of those who persecute Falun Gong are merely "following orders," the
universal law requires that they, too, be held responsible for their actions,
and that only by reversing their course of wrongdoing may they escape
retribution.]
