Worst Flooding Since 1991 In Huaihe River Area

(Clearwisdon.net July 12, 2003) Recently the largest flooding of the Huaihe River since 1991 took place, according to news
announced by Ministry of Civil Administration. Since June 20, Anhui, Jiangsu, Henan Provinces along
the Huaihe River have experienced serious flooding. As of July 6, over 35 million people were
affected in these three provinces, causing over 10 deaths, and affecting over 3,416,000 hectares of
agricultural area. At the same time, thunderstorms have ravaged Hubei Province, Hunan Province,
Chongqing City and other places. There were 148 deaths in the flooding in 8 provinces including
Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan, Guangxi, Chongqing, Sichuan, and Guizhou.
